Key Responsibilities:
Project Management and Coordination:
- Assist in planning, organizing, and managing civil engineering design projects from conception to completion.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines, and ensure deliverables are met according to schedule.
- Provide regular project updates to senior management, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ensure project documentation is accurate and up to date, including project reports, meeting minutes, and action items.
Civil Design and Engineering:
- Lead and contribute to the design of civil engineering systems, including site development, drainage, roads, grading, utilities, and other infrastructure projects.
- Perform technical calculations and prepare detailed design documentation, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Use engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools for design and drafting.
- Prepare and review design calculations, ensuring that designs comply with codes, regulations, and client specifications.
- Conduct site assessments and evaluate existing conditions to inform design decisions.
Collaboration with Cross-Disciplinary Teams:
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and other design professionals to ensure the integration of civil systems with other disciplines.
- Coordinate with environmental, geotechnical, and survey teams to gather data and ensure the accuracy of designs.
- Support the preparation of permits, approvals, and other regulatory documentation for civil projects.
Client Interaction and Communication:
- Engage with clients to understand their project goals, requirements, and concerns.
- Present design concepts and project updates to clients, adjusting designs based on feedback and requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals, bids, and contract documents, including cost estimates and project schedules.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Review and approve design drawings, calculations, and reports, ensuring that all work meets engineering standards, quality, and safety guidelines.
- Ensure that designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
- Perform site visits to monitor construction progress, address technical issues, and ensure design specifications are followed during the execution phase.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure the highest standard of engineering practices and safety.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Assist in preparing and managing project budgets, ensuring that designs are cost-effective and within financial constraints.
- Track and control project costs, providing recommendations for cost savings where possible.
- Assist in managing project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
Sustainability and Innovation:
- Promote sustainable design practices, incorporating energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective solutions into civil designs.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying innovative solutions to improve design processes and project outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 4-6 years of experience in civil engineering design, with a strong background in project engineering and site design.
Skills:
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, including site development, grading, drainage, roads, utilities, and infrastructure design.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and permitting processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex design and engineering challenges.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
