About the Role
A well-established specialist in carpentry and joinery projects is looking for an experienced Senior Project Director / Senior Manager to take charge of major projects from initial award through completion.
This is a senior leadership position suited to someone who combines strong project delivery, commercial, technical and people management capabilities, with solid hands-on knowledge of carpentry and joinery works.
What You'll Be Doing
- Take overall ownership of multiple carpentry and joinery projects, from project commencement to handover and final account.
- Oversee project planning, production, site installation and overall delivery to meet programme, quality and cost objectives.
- Coordinate closely with factory, production and site teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, variations, claims, contracts and final accounts.
- Review and provide guidance on shop drawings, joinery details, materials, fabrication methods and production requirements.
- Work closely with clients, consultants, architects, main contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Identify project risks and resolve technical, commercial and operational issues effectively.
- Lead and develop project managers, quantity surveyors, site personnel and other project team members.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery, productivity and cost management.
What We're Looking For
- Diploma or Degree in Building, Construction, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in carpentry, joinery, woodworking or interior fit-out project management.
- Strong track record in managing large-scale carpentry / joinery projects.
- Good technical understanding of wood materials, hardware, CNC production and finishing processes.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience in contracts, variation orders, claims, negotiations and project financial management.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Mature leadership style with the ability to make decisions and drive projects to successful completion.
