We are looking for Project and Design Lead Engineer – Cubicle Design (Locomotive and Cab Cars)

As a Technical Manager, you coordinate software development for locomotive control technology within the framework of customer-neutral product development, ensuring timely and quality-compliant implementation. You are responsible for work packages for the European market, manage engineering teams, and ensure compatibility with hardware and platform requirements. You bring a solid technical education, extensive experience in rail vehicle software and project management, as well as strong communication and teamwork skills.
- You will be responsible for the integration process of electrical components from the beginning of concept development to the assembly support of rail vehicles.
- You will be fully responsible for the design and integration of electrical and pneumatic components (including electrical cabinets and containers with associated cable-routing).
- You must understand standard engineering practices (example: material selection, Tolerance stack up, Location strategy, manufacturing, serviceability, assembly, LCC, testability, DFMEA).
- Within development, you will define and consider transversal and interface requirements (e.g. insulation coordination, fire protection, EMC, earthing, ethernet, electrical cable-routing etc.) and be the link between electrical and mechanical design as well as related disciplines such as circuit engineering.
- You must analyze and evaluate the customer specifications, standards, and regulations, always consider the current process regulations, technical instructions, information as well as standards and laws. Having working exposure of rail norms as per UIC, EN, DIN, IS is a plus.
- In addition, you will act as a process contact person/multiplier regarding the above-mentioned transversal and interface requirements.
- For a successful assembly of the components, you will prepare the necessary production documents, simulate the installation of the electrical equipment and plan the electrical cable routing.
- You will report to the project manager in engineering and to your group management.
- You will facilitate execution through coordination across multiple functions including engineering, business controlling, supply management, manufacturing development and other interfaces as required.
- You are entrusted to drive the product development, integrate with other sub systems, and validate the system performance as per the functional requirements adhering to the Quality, Cost & Delivery (QCD) commitments of the Project/Tender.
- You will establish and provide standardized reports on product/project execution to line & project management and must be able to work effectively in a Matrix Organization.
Desired Skills
- Must have Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics Engineering with 5+ years of relevant work experience, Rolling Stock and Electromechanical integration background preferred.
- Must have a good understanding of mechanical designing concepts and design of machine members, design of welded, rivetted and/or bolted assemblies, gluing and surface treatments. Awareness of Metal Fatigue, Welded Steel Structures design as per EN 15085, material behavior, mechanical vibrations etc. Know-how of pre-dimensioning of screw and rivet connections is beneficial.
- Sound knowledge of PTC CREO 4.0 modules such as sheet metal, piping, cabling, assembly, drafting and / or surfacing as well as PDM Windchill or similar Product Lifecycle Management software (PLM).
- Handling of SAP (P22) and Teamcenter for creation & release of BOM, drawing, technical specification & change management.
- Experience with Requirement management tools such as Polarion, Doors etc. is a plus.
- Knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical integration of sub-systems, designing Sheet metal, FRP, Castings & Extrusions parts & components is required.
- Must have knowledge about corrosion protection methodologies such as Paint, Powder Coat, anodizing, zinc plating etc.
- Must have experience in communicating with suppliers and customers, internally and externally.
- Experience in creating and presenting designs for internal and external design reviews is necessary.
- Advanced English skills, German skills on level A1 or higher is a welcome addition. Your willingness to travel domestically and abroad round off your profile.
