Newton School of Technology (NST) is a new-age institution redefining technical education in India. Founded by IIT alumni, NST offers a 4-year B.Tech in Computer Science and AI, focused on hands-on learning and deep industry integration. Role Overview :
The Progression In-Charge plays a critical role in driving student success and overall development throughout their journey. This role is not limited to academic tracking it requires high ownership, proactive thinking, and a strong mentorship approach to ensure students are improving consistently.
The person in this role is expected to identify student challenges early, take complete ownership of solving them, and guide students not just academically but also in their overall growth, confidence, and career direction.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Student Ownership & Mentorship :

  • Take end-to-end ownership of a group of students and their progress.
  • Act as a mentor and guide, supporting students in academics, career decisions, and overall development.
  • Focus on holistic improvement not just academics, but also confidence, communication, and clarity of goals.
  • Help students explore and build in areas of their interest (projects, skills, career paths).

2. Proactive Student Support :

  • Continuously monitor student performance, attendance, and engagement.
  • Identify early signs of risk or low performance and take immediate action.
  • Design and execute intervention plans (1:1s, study plans)
  • Ensure students stay consistent, accountable, and on track.

3. Problem Solving & High Ownership :

  • Show strong ownership in solving student issues without waiting for direction.
  • Take initiative to resolve academic, behavioral, or motivation-related challenges.
  • Be responsible for driving outcomes, not just reporting problems.
  • Continuously think of better ways to improve student engagement and results.

4. Data & Process Management:

  • Maintain and update student tracking sheets, dashboards, and reports.
  • Use tools like Google Sheets / Excel to analyze student performance and trends.
  • Derive actionable insights from data and apply them in student interventions.
  • Ensure proper documentation and structured tracking of student progress.

5. Collaboration & Execution :

  • Work closely with faculty, academic teams, and leadership to align on student progress.
  • Share insights, challenges, and action plans regularly.
  • Ensure smooth execution of academic and support processes.


Requirements:

  • Prior experience (1-2)in student-facing roles such as mentorship, student success, academic operations, or similar domains.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach
  • Good proficiency in Google Sheets / Excel and documentation
  • Ability to analyze data and convert it into actionable insights
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
