Purpose
We seek to hire a Programme Associate to support our ongoing work on enhancing the access to sustainable cooling to the Indian population, with a primary focus on supporting India's transition to low-GWP and cleaner refrigerants in accordance with the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. In addition to the technology transition to phase down high GWP hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), the existing stock of refrigerant gases needs to be effectively managed (through lifecycle refrigerant management practices) to avoid their emissions.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting research on appropriate policy mechanism, technology and capacity building needs, supply chain and market challenges, lifecycle impacts of alternative refrigerants, and business models to inform policy making on refrigerant transition and refrigerant management, and support its effective implementation. He/she would be involved in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, including data analysis, survey design, stakeholder interviews and engagement, creating knowledge products, and outreach. He/she would also be involved in managing stakeholder relationships. The ideal candidate should possess an educational background in environmental sciences/ engineering in relevant disciplines or public policy, and should have preliminary understanding/ prior work experience in the refrigerants and cooling sector.
