Role Description
We are in search of an expert Program Manager to direct delivery, operations, and people leadership for critical initiatives within Principal's Asset Management business. This Leader-of-Leaders role is accountable for advancing stability, modernization, and operational excellence across Investment Management Middle & BackOffice Functions.
The ideal candidate brings deep domain understanding, strong collaborator management, and the ability to lead technical and operational groups in a hybrid technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
- Lead and manage a team with multifaceted strengths spanning technical development and operational management (3 to 5 direct reportees and 30-50 Indirect reportees).
- Drive performance management, mentoring, succession planning, and capability building.
- Ensure operational stability, workforce planning, and resource continuity.
- Cultivate an accountable, high‑performance culture with focus on business outcomes.
Program & Delivery Management
- Own delivery of key initiatives including platform modernization, cloud migration, and security transformation.
- Lead delivery schedules, SLAs, operational metrics, and cross‑team execution.
- Drive planning, execution, monitoring, and risk management across multiple programs.
- Implement and improve Agile/SAFe program practices
Operations Management (SOD/EOD Oversight)
- Coordinate daily SOD/EOD operational cycles
- Ensure uninterrupted night-cycle operations and proactively resolve batch issues.
- Coordinate with system owners, vendors, and cross‑functional teams to maintain data accuracy and operational SLAs.
- Strengthen runbooks, controls, and continuity practices.
Domain & Technology Oversight
- Provide leadership oversight over technology teams supporting Investment Operations specifically Middle and Back Office processes. Processes include Securities Data Mastering, Investment Accounting, Portfolio Reconciliation, Financial Reporting, Fund Operations etc.
- Demonstrate a solid grasp of trade lifecycle, securities data, and downstream reporting processes.
- Offer architectural oversight on AWS-based solutions (hands‑on not required).
- Work with global collaborators on platform upgrades, integration programs, and operational improvements.
Collaboration & Vendor Management
- Partner with Directors and ADs across Technology and Operations.
- Drive strategic conversations on roadmaps, delivery expectations, and risk mitigation.
- Lead vendor engagement and governance for operational and delivery outcomes.
- Support BU and Locationlevel initiatives including change management and communication.
Qualifications
Education Qualififcation & Experience: GraduateBachelors degree (any stream)
- 15–19 years of total experience, including:
- Minimum 5+ years leading managers/technical leads (Leader-of-Leaders).
- Experience leading engineering teams handling both change/new developement and technical operations/support
- Strong background in Asset Management.
- Proficiency in Middle & Back Office operations, particularly: Securities Data Mastering, Investment Accounting, Portfolio Reconciliation,
- Exposure to platforms such as BNY Eagle, CRIMS/Charles River , DUCO, etc. (platform exposure preferred; proven experience is non-negotiable).
- Familiarity with AWS cloud (architectural oversight).
- Experience coordinating SOD/EOD operations and sophisticated batch environments.
- Strong command over Agile/SAFe delivery methodologies.
- Excellent communication, collaborator handling, and critical thinking capabilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with global teams and matrix environments.
- Ability to influence senior leadership and drive decision-making.
- Solid knowledge of audit, compliance, and operational controls.
- Experience with vendor-led delivery and hybrid operational setups.
