Job Highlight:

WRI India is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join the MobiliseHER project, which aims to foster equitable and gender-responsive mobility systems in Indian cities. Through participatory planning approaches, the project aims to strengthen the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) and work closely with government authorities to integrate gender lens into urban transport planning and governance.

As part of this effort, WRI India is looking for a suitable candidate with strong expertise in gender-responsive mobility planning, capacity building, and multi-stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities of the position are provided below.

What you will do:

Learning Content development (30%):

  • Lead content development for diverse audience, including various government officials and civil society organizations.
  • Ensure the existing research is effectively synthesized and transformed into well-structured, evidence-based materials to support varied capacity building initiatives.

Stakeholder engagement (70%):

  • Build and/or strengthen working relationships with central, state, and city governments to secure their support for capacity building initiatives.
  • Engage with city government and non-government organizations, including policy makers, think tanks, and CSOs to disseminate WRI India's research as well as capacitate them on inclusive planning and governance.
  • Facilitate dialogues and joint meetings between government and non-government organizations to foster greater engagement and cooperation.
  • Identify and engage with a network of mentors to provide guidance to participants during capacity building programs.
  • Identify and onboard experienced trainers to conduct capacity building initiatives, ensuring alignment with the objectives and stakeholder needs.
  • Work closely with WRI India team members to organize workshops, masterclasses, etc., including developing necessary materials.
  • Identify and coordinate with content developer to design materials for capacity building initiatives, including workshops, masterclasses, etc.

What you will need:

  • Master's degree in gender studies, urban development, management studies, social work, public policy with excellent academic track record.
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and evidence-based advocacy.
  • In-depth knowledge of gender-responsive mobility planning is desirable.
  • Familiarity with urban governance and municipal budgeting is desirable.
  • Experience in designing and delivering learning modules or training programs for professionals is a pre-requisite.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coherently convey complex information to a diverse audience.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi is required; proficiency in other regional languages will be considered as an asset.
  • Strong networking and people management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of leading initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial mindset and accountability in handling challenging tasks.
  • Ability to receive and incorporate constructive feedback effectively.

Salary and Benefits: INR 18,00,000 to 24,00,000

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI India offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Duration: 1 year

Location: Bengaluru or Mumbai, with extensive travel involved
