Smya India is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing nutritious meals to homeless communities across Mumbai. For our current operations, we run an industrial kitchen that serves 300+ meals a day. We are looking for a dynamic individual who loves planning, efficient execution and working with diverse stakeholders.
As a Nutrition Facilitator, you will work directly with children in low-income communities to simplify and deliver engaging content on healthy eating. You will use storytelling, games, hands-on activities, and visual tools to help children build a positive relationship with food.
Conduct interactive nutrition and food-based learning sessions in schools, shelters, and community centers
Simplify complex nutrition topics (e.g., balanced diet, junk food, hydration) using age-appropriate language and activities
Work closely with the Nutrition team create effective material for dissemination
Support the development of session materials (charts, games, posters, worksheets)
Engage with teachers, caregivers, and community volunteers to reinforce learning
Observe and document participation, learning outcomes, and behavioral shifts
Assist in organizing community events (e.g., Healthy Eating Day, Food Fairs)
Maintain attendance, feedback forms, and photo documentation
Minimum: Graduate in social work, nutrition, education, or any related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Strong spoken communication in Hindi, Marathi, and/or the local community language
Comfort with children from diverse backgrounds and the ability to engage patiently
Passion for health, food, and grassroots community work
Willingness to travel to field locations daily
