About IT for Change:

IT for Change (ITfC) is a Bengaluru-based not-for-profit organisation working on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for social change. Established in 2000, ITfC operates across four focus areas: public edtech, gender, internet governance, and development and democracy.

The Public EdTech team at ITfC builds participatory models that strengthen teacher agency, school autonomy, and community participation in partnership with public education systems. Our education programs integrate digital technologies for connecting, creating, and collaborating at school, district, and state levels.

Job Profile:

The Program Assistant will support the language team in classroom implementation, resource development, and field coordination across ITfC's education projects. This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who is keen to build expertise in language education, multilingual pedagogy, and working with public school systems. Responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting in the development of curricular resources: audio stories, lesson plans, classroom activity sheets, and multimedia materials in English and/or Kannada
  2. Conducting regular school visits to support/lead classroom sessions, observe and document teaching practices, and assist teachers in using new pedagogies and digital resources
  3. Supporting the planning and logistics of teacher professional development workshops, including techno-pedagogy workshops across districts and cascade training sessions for teachers and teacher educators
  4. Helping coordinate with District Coordinators, school heads, DIET faculty, and other field-level stakeholders for smooth program operations
  5. Contributing to data collection, entry, and preliminary analysis for program monitoring, needs assessments, and classroom observations
  6. Assisting in maintaining and updating content on ITfC's digital platforms and open educational resource repositories
  7. Supporting documentation and reporting: compiling field notes, preparing progress updates, and assisting with funder reports
  8. Helping with administrative and logistical coordination for workshops, school visits, and team activities.

Depending on interest and aptitude, the role may also involve supporting pre-service teacher education sessions at B.Ed. colleges, assisting with content development for new program components, or supporting projects across domains.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Linguistics, Languages, or a related field
  2. 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in teaching, educational program support, content development, or fieldwork in the education sector.

Candidates with a B.Ed. or experience in language teaching at the school level are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  1. Good competence in English and/or Kannada. If the candidate is primarily a Kannada language educator, fluency in English (oral & written) is essential
  2. Speaking proficiency in Kannada is mandatory
  3. Comfort with using computers and basic digital tools; willingness to explore new technologies and platforms
  4. Ability to work in the field, travel to schools, and engage with teachers and students in diverse settings
  5. Interest in education, language learning, and Indian social contexts
  6. A collaborative attitude and willingness to take initiative.

Familiarity with audio/video editing tools, experience with data entry or field surveys, or proficiency in Hindi or other Indian languages would be useful additions.

Note:

  • The place of work will be Bengaluru, with occasional travel across Karnataka and India.
  • Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and would not be a constraint for the right candidate.
  • Send your updated resumes to the email ID: [Confidential Information]
  • The role offers an excellent entry point into the field of education innovation, with hands-on exposure to multilingual pedagogy, public school systems, open educational resources, and technology-enabled teaching and learning in India.
