About the Role
We are looking for a Professor - Psychology for Apeejay Stya University.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Behavioral Science, Psychology, or related disciplines, and provide continuous mentoring and academic guidance to students.
- Develop curriculum, lesson plans, and assessment methods aligned with academic standards.
- Guide postgraduate/doctoral students in dissertations and research projects.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research, publish in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals.
- Contribute to academic review, accreditation processes, and departmental development.
- Participate in seminars, conferences, and knowledge-sharing activities to strengthen the school's academic profile.
Counselling & Student Support
- Provide professional counselling to students on academic, personal, emotional, and career-related concerns.
- Identify students needing support through observation, referrals, or faculty reports and offer timely intervention.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all counselling interactions.
- Conduct group sessions, workshops, and awareness programs on stress management, wellbeing, and life skills development.
- Collaborate with academic departments, hostel wardens, and administrative teams to support student welfare.
- Develop preventive and wellness initiatives to enhance student mental health and campus well-being.
- Guide students in resolving academic challenges, behavioral issues, and interpersonal conflicts.
Administrative & Institutional Responsibilities
- Provide academic leadership in the School/Department, contributing to strategic planning and policy formulation.
- Lead and participate in university committees.
- Oversee academic quality assurance, accreditation requirements, and adherence to UGC norms.
- Represent the school in meetings and academic forums as required.
- Support institutional outreach, industry collaborations, and community engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Psychology / Applied Psychology / Behavioral Science/Counselling Psychology or a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Strong publication record (as per UGC/AICTE norms).
Experience
- A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.
- Independent counselling skills and minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
