The Professor of Management is a senior, tenured faculty position that requires an outstanding international reputation for scholarly distinction, exceptional teaching ability across all levels, and a demonstrated commitment to institutional leadership and service. The successful candidate is expected to be an intellectual leader who will significantly contribute to the School's mission of creating and disseminating cutting-edge knowledge and educating leaders for business and society.
I. Primary Responsibilities
A. Research & Scholarship
- Maintain and expand a highly impactful, externally-recognized research program that consistently produces publications in the absolute top-tier academic journals of the candidate's specialization(s).
- Provide intellectual leadership and set the research agenda in their field, demonstrating a capacity to disrupt and advance management theory and practice.
- Successfully secure significant external research funding, grants, and contracts from major national and international organizations (e.g., NSF, governmental, or major foundation grants).
- Mentor and supervise Ph.D. students and junior faculty members, guiding them toward research excellence and successful career progression.
B. Teaching & Mentoring
- Deliver exceptional teaching in core and elective courses at all levels: MBA, Executive MBA, Master's, and Doctoral programs.
- Develop and innovate course curricula, integrating the latest research and industry practice to ensure a cutting-edge educational experience.
- Advise and mentor students, particularly Ph.D. candidates and early-career faculty, fostering their intellectual and professional development.
- Maintain a commitment to creating an inclusive, rigorous, and diverse learning environment.
C. Service & Leadership
- Serve in significant leadership roles within the department, school, and university (e.g., Department Chair, Program Director, Dean-level committees, or major task forces).
- Engage actively with the broader academic and professional community by serving on editorial boards of top journals, organizing major conferences, and consulting with key industry/policy stakeholders.
- Represent the institution globally, enhancing its reputation through public lectures, media engagement, and building strategic external partnerships.
- Contribute to the School's strategic vision, including initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
II. Required Qualifications
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Management or a closely related discipline from an internationally recognized, top-tier university.
- A distinguished, internationally recognized record of scholarly achievement consistent with the rank of tenured Full Professor at a peer Ivy League institution, evidenced by an extensive body of influential publications in A-level journals.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience as a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at a major research university, with a demonstrated history of successful mentorship and leadership.
- Proven excellence in teaching at the graduate (MBA/Ph.D.) level, with strong positive evaluations and experience in developing innovative course content.
- Demonstrated success in attracting significant external research funding/grants.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to work collegially in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.
III. Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a senior administrative or academic leadership role (e.g., Center Director, Area Head).
- Experience with executive education or professional training programs.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations across different university schools or departments.
