Role: Lead – Production Planning & Procurement
Location: Mumbai
About the Role
We are a fast-growing D2C supplements brand where procurement is a core growth lever, not just an operations function.
This role will directly report to CXO and own end-to-end manufacturing & sourcing across:
- Raw Materials (actives, excipients)
- Packaging Materials (jars, sachets, cartons, scoops)
- Merchandise items (shakers, gifting, etc.)
You will directly impact cost, speed, and product scalability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Raw Material & Packaging Procurement
- Source and manage suppliers for:
- Nutraceutical ingredients (collagen, glutathione, magnesium, etc.)
- Packaging materials (HDPE jars, laminates, cartons, scoops)
- Run RFQs, price benchmarking, and cost negotiations
- Ensure quality, timelines, and cost efficiency
2. CMO Coordination & Management
- Work closely with contract manufacturers for:
- Production planning and scheduling
- Batch execution and dispatch timelines
- Track and optimize:
- Conversion costs
- Yield losses
- Delays and inefficiencies
3. Vendor Development & Negotiation
- Identify and onboard new vendors (India + international)
- Negotiate:
- Pricing
- MOQs
- Payment terms
- Build long-term supplier relationships
4. Import Sourcing (Good to Have)
- Manage sourcing from China and other international markets
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and CHA for imports
5. Planning & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Align procurement with demand planning and NPD timelines
- Ensure availability of RM/PM for uninterrupted production
6. Costing & MIS
- Maintain procurement trackers and cost sheets
- Identify cost-saving opportunities across RM, PM, and CMO
7. Compliance & Quality
- Ensure vendor compliance with FSSAI/GMP standards
- Work with QA for approvals and documentation
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 3–4 years in procurement / sourcing
- Preferred:
- D2C supplements / nutraceutical / pharma
- Experience handling CMOs
Must-Have Skills
- Strong vendor negotiation ability
- Experience in RM + PM sourcing
- Hands-on coordination with manufacturers
- Strong Excel skills (costing, comparisons)
Good-to-Have
- Import sourcing (China)
- Exposure to nutraceutical ingredients
- Existing vendor network
