Job Summary
The Materials & Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities while ensuring timely availability of materials. The role focuses on optimizing inventory levels, improving production efficiency, and ensuring on-time delivery to customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on demand forecasts and customer orders
- Create and manage production schedules to ensure optimal utilization of manpower and machines
- Coordinate with shop floor teams to execute plans effectively
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed
2. Material Planning
- Plan and ensure availability of raw materials, components, and consumables
- Generate Material Requirement Plans (MRP) based on production schedules
- Coordinate with procurement for timely material availability
- Track shortages and proactively mitigate risks
3. Inventory Management
- Maintain optimal inventory levels (RM, WIP, FG)
- Monitor slow-moving and excess inventory
- Implement inventory control strategies to reduce carrying cost
- Ensure accuracy of inventory records in ERP systems
4. Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with Procurement, Production, Quality, and Logistics teams
- Align production plans with supply constraints and customer priorities
- Communicate changes in demand or delays to stakeholders
5. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze demand vs production capacity
- Prepare production and inventory reports
- Track KPIs such as:
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Inventory Turns
- Plan Adherence
- Material Availability
6. Continuous Improvement
- Identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives
- Improve planning accuracy and reduce lead time
