About The Role

Celestix Industries is looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead and optimise day-to-day manufacturing operations within its custom wiring harness production facility in Changodar, Ahmedabad.

The role is responsible for production planning, shop-floor execution, manpower and resource allocation, quality, material availability, machine utilisation, productivity, cost control and on-time delivery.

The Production Manager will work closely with Quality, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Logistics, Design and Sales to ensure smooth production flow and continuously improve manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

Develop and execute detailed production schedules based on customer demand.
Plan and allocate manpower, machines and materials according to production requirements.
Monitor daily production against planned output.
Ensure customer delivery commitments are achieved with minimal production disruption.
Optimise available resources to improve output and production efficiency.

Wiring Harness Manufacturing Operations

Lead day-to-day production activities within the custom wiring harness manufacturing unit.
Maintain smooth workflow across production processes.
Identify production constraints before they affect output or delivery.
Ensure production activities remain aligned with customer specifications, internal requirements and quality standards.

Process Management & Optimisation

Monitor daily manufacturing operations and maintain workflow continuity.
Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks.
Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Lead continuous improvement activities across production.
Improve overall production efficiency and process stability.
Identify opportunities to simplify and strengthen manufacturing processes.

Production Planning & Control

Maintain clear visibility of production schedules, customer demand and available capacity.
Coordinate manpower, machines and materials to meet production targets.
Monitor plan-versus-actual production performance.
Take corrective action when production falls behind schedule.
Coordinate priorities across departments to maintain uninterrupted production.

Manpower & Shop Floor Management

Supervise shop-floor teams including operators, technicians and engineers.
Allocate manpower based on production requirements.
Monitor team productivity and shop-floor performance.
Maintain discipline and safety across production areas.
Conduct employee training and performance evaluations.
Support employee development.
Handle team grievances effectively and coordinate with the relevant departments where required.

Quality Control & Compliance

Ensure manufacturing operations comply with applicable quality requirements.
Maintain adherence to:

ISO 9001:2015
IATF 16949:2016
IPC/WHMA-A-620

Work closely with the Quality Assurance team on product reliability and process audits.
Ensure customer specifications are followed during manufacturing.
Investigate customer complaints relating to production.
Implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Productivity & Continuous Improvement

Analyse production performance and identify opportunities to improve output.
Reduce bottlenecks and unnecessary production delays.
Improve resource utilisation across manpower and equipment.
Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
Monitor production KPIs and use performance data to guide improvement actions.

Material & Inventory Management

Coordinate closely with the Supply Chain team to ensure raw materials are available when required.
Identify potential material shortages that could affect production.
Support accurate material planning and inventory control.
Reduce material wastage through better usage and process control.
Support Just-in-Time (JIT) material practices.
Optimise inventory holding while maintaining reliable production availability.

Equipment & Machine Utilisation

Monitor machine availability required to achieve production schedules.
Coordinate preventive maintenance requirements with the Maintenance team.
Reduce unplanned machine downtime.
Escalate equipment concerns that could affect production.
Support better equipment utilisation across the manufacturing floor.

Automation & Process Improvement

Identify opportunities where automation or process-improvement tools can increase productivity.
Recommend appropriate improvements to manufacturing equipment or processes.
Support implementation of approved automation and improvement initiatives.
Evaluate practical improvements based on productivity, quality and operational requirements.

Cost Control & Budgeting

Monitor production costs while maintaining required quality and output.
Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs.
Lead production-related budgeting activities.
Implement practical cost-saving measures.
Control wastage and inefficient resource utilisation.
Balance cost improvement with production, quality and delivery requirements.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Coordinate production requirements for new products with Engineering and other relevant teams.
Identify manufacturing risks and production requirements before new products move into regular production.

Production Documentation & Audit Support

Maintain accurate production records and reports.
Maintain manufacturing documentation required for internal and external audits.
Ensure production documentation complies with applicable internal standards.
Maintain records required to demonstrate compliance with customer specifications.
Support quality and process audits with accurate production information.

Production KPIs & Reporting

Monitor key production KPIs and performance metrics.
Analyse trends and identify areas requiring corrective action.
Track production progress against schedules and targets.
Report production status, major issues and improvement initiatives to senior management.
Use performance data to support continuous improvement and management decision-making.

Problem Solving

Proactively identify manufacturing problems.
Investigate production issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Coordinate with relevant departments to resolve problems quickly.
Prevent recurring production issues where possible.
Escalate significant production risks to senior management when required.

Required Experience

8–10 years of experience as specified for the vacancy.
The job qualification requirements specify 6–10 years of hands-on production-management experience in wiring harness or electronics manufacturing.
Strong practical exposure to production planning and shop-floor manufacturing operations.
Experience managing manpower, machines, materials and production schedules.
Strong understanding of ERP systems, production-planning tools and Lean Manufacturing principles.

Candidate Background

The role requires hands-on production-management experience within wiring harness or electronics manufacturing.

The candidate should understand how to manage a production floor rather than only preparing plans and reports. This includes coordinating manpower, machines, materials, quality, maintenance and cross-functional requirements while remaining accountable for production output and customer delivery.

Strong Leadership, Coordination And Decision-making Skills Are Required.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader who can take ownership of the entire production operation from planning through execution.

The person should be capable of translating customer demand into realistic production schedules, allocating resources effectively, managing shop-floor teams and identifying potential bottlenecks before they affect delivery.

The candidate should be equally comfortable reviewing production KPIs, resolving a shop-floor issue, coordinating a material shortage, working with Quality on a customer complaint or discussing preventive maintenance requirements with the Maintenance team.

Strong leadership should be combined with practical manufacturing knowledge, disciplined follow-up and the ability to make timely production decisions.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means customer requirements are converted into reliable production plans and those plans are consistently achieved on the shop floor.

Production should operate with strong control over manpower, materials, machines, quality, cost and delivery. Bottlenecks and downtime should be reduced, inventory should be appropriately controlled, and production KPIs should demonstrate sustained improvement.

The Production Manager should build a disciplined, safe and high-performing manufacturing operation while continuously improving productivity, process efficiency and on-time delivery.
