Production Manager

Job Description

To plan, manage, and control end-to-end production operations ensuring timely delivery, required quality standards, optimal productivity, and cost efficiency in a canvas bags and heavy fabric manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning &Control

Prepare and execute daily and monthly production plans as per order priorities.

Ensure achievement of production targets and on-time deliveries.

Monitor WIP, line output, and capacity utilization.

Shop-Floor & Line Management

Manage shop-floor operations with strong control over productivity and discipline.

Handle multiple production lines and styles simultaneously.

Perform line balancing and address bottlenecks to improve efficiency.

Manpower Management

Supervise operators, helpers, supervisors, and support staff.

Allocate manpower based on skills and production needs.

Train and develop operators for multi-skilling and efficiency improvement.

Quality & Cost Control

Ensure quality control at source to reduce defects, rework, and rejection.

Monitor material usage (fabric, foam, webbing, zippers, accessories) as per BOM.

Control material wastage, overtime, and production costs.

Reporting & Coordination

Maintain daily production and efficiency reports using basic Excel.

Coordinate with merchandising, QC, sourcing, and dispatch teams.

Escalate issues proactively and implement corrective actions.

Key Requirements

35 years of production experience; 23 years in canvas bags / luggage / backpacks.

Strong shop-floor control with hands-on production involvement.

Knowledge of bag construction, sewing machines, and materials.

Ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple styles.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Education & Experience

Graduate with 35 years of experience in bags or garment manufacturing unit.
