Role Overview
The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end manufacturing operations for mattress production, ensuring optimal efficiency, quality, and cost control. This role requires strong expertise in foam, spring, and assembly processes, along with the ability to manage teams, production planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans aligned with demand forecasts.
- Ensure timely production to meet dispatch schedules and customer commitments.
- Monitor production KPIs such as output, efficiency, downtime, and yield.
2. Shop Floor Management
- Oversee end-to-end mattress manufacturing processes including foam processing, quilting, cutting, stitching, and assembly.
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
- Drive adherence to SOPs and production standards.
3. Quality Assurance
- Ensure all products meet defined quality benchmarks and specifications.
- Work closely with QA teams to minimize defects and rework.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring issues.
4. Cost & Process Optimization
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across production processes.
- Drive lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reduce wastage of raw materials such as foam, fabric, adhesives, and springs.
5. Team Management
- Lead, train, and manage production staff including supervisors and operators.
- Monitor workforce productivity and ensure proper shift planning.
- Build a culture of accountability, safety, and performance.
6. Inventory & Coordination
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams for raw material availability.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
- Collaborate with supply chain and sales teams for demand alignment.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a safe working environment on the shop floor.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
Key Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Industrial / Production) or related field.
- MBA (Operations) is a plus.
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing/production, preferably in mattress, furniture, foam, or related industries.
- Strong exposure to factory operations and process optimization.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mattress manufacturing processes (foam, spring, latex, assembly).
- Production planning and inventory management expertise.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel.
