Salary: 8 to 9 LPA

Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing manufacturing operations for Gas Detection Systems, Gas Analyzers, and Safety & Environmental Instrumentation. The role ensures timely production, quality compliance, regulatory adherence, cost optimization, and continuous process improvement while meeting customer and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

  • Plan, organize, and control end-to-end production activities for gas detectors, analyzers, and analytical instruments
  • Ensure on-time delivery by aligning production schedules with sales forecasts and project timelines
  • Coordinate with Procurement, R&D, QA, and Stores to ensure material availability and smooth workflow
  • Optimize manpower, equipment utilization, and production capacity

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and industry-specific norms (ATEX, IECEx, PESO, CE, SIL wherever applicable)
  • Ensure adherence to calibration procedures, traceability, and test protocols for gas sensors and analyzers
  • Oversee in-process inspections, final testing, burn-in, and functional validation
  • Support internal and external audits and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement productivity improvement initiatives
  • Reduce rework, scrap, and production cycle time while improving yield
  • Drive standardization of work instructions, SOPs, and production documentation

People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop production engineers, technicians and logistic
  • Conduct skill gap analysis and training on assembly, testing, calibration, and safety practices
  • Ensure adherence to EHS norms on the shop floor

Cost & Inventory Control

  • Monitor production costs, material consumption, and wastage
  • Work closely with Stores and Purchase teams for inventory optimization and FIFO practices
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or safety

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with R&D for NPI (New Product Introduction), design for manufacturability, and process validation
  • Coordinate with Service team for feedback on field failures and continuous improvement
  • Support documentation for tenders, customer inspections, and FAT/SAT activities where required

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of gas sensors (electrochemical, IR, PID, catalytic, ultrasonic) and analyzer systems
  • Knowledge of electronic assembly, calibration, enclosure assembly, and testing
  • Familiarity with safety-critical and hazardous area equipment manufacturing
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and production MIS reporting
  • Strong communication and inter-departmental coordination skills

Educational Qualification

  • B. E. / B. Tech in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
  • M. Tech / MBA (Operations) will be an added advantage
