Hiring | Head of Production – Paints & Coatings | Tanzania (Expat)

We are hiring a Head of Production for a leading Paints & Coatings Manufacturing company based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

We are looking for a seasoned professional who has successfully managed the entire product lifecycle—from understanding customer requirements to product development, manufacturing, quality validation, certification, and commercial launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end production and plant operations.
• Drive Research & Development (R&D), New Product Development (NPD), and formulation development.
• Work closely with customers to understand technical requirements and convert enquiries into commercially viable products.
• Develop and optimize formulations for new products and improve existing product performance.
• Lead Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), laboratory operations, and technical testing.
• Manage raw material evaluation, product validation, pilot trials, stability studies, and performance testing.
• Ensure compliance with national and international quality standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate product approvals, certifications, and technical documentation required for commercialization.
• Lead successful product rollouts by working closely with Production, Sales, Marketing, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams.
• Drive process improvements, cost optimization, and manufacturing excellence.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience in the Paints & Coatings industry.
• Proven expertise across Production, R&D, NPD, Formulation Development, QA, QC, Laboratory Management, and Technical Services.
• Hands-on experience in managing the complete product development cycle from customer enquiry → technical evaluation → formulation → laboratory development → QA/QC → technical testing → certifications → pilot production → commercial manufacturing → market rollout.
• Strong understanding of paint formulations, raw materials, manufacturing processes, and production equipment.
• Experience with ISO, ASTM, BIS, EN, or other international testing and quality standards.
• Professional certifications in Quality, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or ISO will be an added advantage.
• Candidates who have represented their organization at international paint/coatings conferences, technical seminars, exhibitions, or industry expos will be preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary technical and production teams.
