As SAN Automotive continues to grow, we are looking for capable Production Engineers who can support shop-floor execution, production planning, manpower coordination, quality discipline, and daily output in press shop and weld shop operations.
Position OverviewThe Production Engineer will be responsible for managing daily production activities in the press shop and/or weld shop, ensuring production targets, maintaining quality, improving productivity, and coordinating with quality, maintenance, tool room, dispatch, and planning teams.
The ideal candidate should have experience in sheet metal stamping, press operations, fabrication, welding, or automotive component manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities1. Daily Production Management- Execute daily production plans as per customer and dispatch requirements.
- Monitor production output, machine utilization, manpower allocation, and shift performance.
- Ensure production targets are achieved on time.
- Coordinate with supervisors, operators, helpers, and department teams.
- Maintain production discipline on the shop floor.
2. Press Shop and Weld Shop Coordination- Handle production activities related to press shop and weld shop operations.
- Monitor press machines, dies, welding fixtures, and process flow.
- Ensure proper setup, changeover, and process readiness.
- Coordinate with tool room and maintenance for breakdowns, die issues, and fixture problems.
- Ensure safe and efficient use of machines, tools, and manpower.
3. Quality and Process Control- Ensure components are produced as per quality requirements and customer specifications.
- Coordinate with QA team for in-process inspection and defect control.
- Identify production defects and support corrective actions.
- Control rejection, rework, and process variation.
- Ensure operators follow approved process parameters and inspection checkpoints.
4. Manpower and Shift Coordination- Allocate manpower as per production priorities.
- Monitor attendance, operator performance, and shop-floor discipline.
- Coordinate with HR and supervisors for manpower availability.
- Ensure proper communication of production targets to shop-floor teams.
- Support training of operators and workers where required.
5. Documentation and Reporting- Maintain daily production reports, rejection reports, downtime records, and manpower reports.
- Prepare shift-wise and machine-wise production data.
- Report production delays, shortages, breakdowns, and quality issues to senior management.
- Maintain process records and shop-floor documentation.
- Support production MIS and review meetings.
6. Improvement Activities- Support productivity improvement, cycle time reduction, and rejection reduction initiatives.
- Participate in 5S, Kaizen, safety, and process improvement activities.
- Identify bottlenecks and suggest practical improvements.
- Support better utilization of machines, manpower, and material.
Qualifications and Requirements- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
- 4–5 years of experience in production.
- Experience in press shop, weld shop, sheet metal, fabrication, stamping, or automotive component industry preferred.
- Basic knowledge of production planning, manpower handling, quality control, and shop-floor coordination.
- Ability to read basic drawings and understand production processes.
- Good communication skills in Hindi and basic English.
- Comfortable working in a plant/manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to prepare reports.
Preferred Skills- Experience in press machine operations and weld shop processes.
- Knowledge of dies, fixtures, jigs, welding, and sheet metal production.
- Ability to coordinate with quality, maintenance, tool room, and dispatch teams.
- Understanding of 5S, Kaizen, productivity improvement, and safety practices.
- Ability to handle shop-floor teams and meet production targets.
