Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Production Engineer with expertise in composite manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing production processes for composite materials, ensuring high-quality output, cost-effective operations, and strict adherence to safety and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Development & Optimization:
- Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes for composite components.
- Continuously optimize production methods to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure consistent product quality.
Quality Control & Assurance:
- Monitor production processes to maintain the highest quality standards for composite products.
- Perform inspections and testing of composite materials and finished products to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues promptly.
Tooling & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the setup, calibration, and maintenance of equipment used in composite manufacturing (e.g., autoclaves, presses, CNC machines).
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of tooling and machinery to avoid production delays.
Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with design and engineering teams to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and process requirements.
- Provide technical support to the production team and offer solutions for any manufacturing issues.
Cost Management:
- Monitor production costs and recommend improvements for cost-effective manufacturing without compromising quality.
- Identify opportunities for resource optimization and reduce material wastage.
Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, implementing lean manufacturing principles where applicable.
- Lead and support projects for process enhancements and new technologies in composite manufacturing.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and quality inspections.
- Prepare reports and provide regular updates to management regarding production performance, issues, and improvements.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in composite manufacturing or related fields, ideally within aerospace, automotive, or advanced materials industries.
- Experience with composite materials like carbon fiber, fiberglass, or other advanced composites is essential.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as autoclave curing, filament winding, and resin infusion is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of composite materials, their properties, and processing techniques.
- Familiarity with manufacturing tools and equipment used in composite production.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot production issues effectively.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and manufacturing execution systems (MES) is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with other teams.
