What you'll actually do:
Debug production issues, write SQL queries to investigate problems, and build small Python tools to fix things. You'll be the bridge between users having problems and engineers building solutions.
The interesting part:
You won't just fix tickets - you'll figure out why things break. Was it a system bug Poor documentation User confusion Then you'll work with Product to prevent it happening again.
Day-to-day work:
- Investigate customer issues using SQL (joins, window functions, performance tuning)
- Write Python scripts to automate fixes and data patches
- Read logs, check APIs, trace user journeys through our systems
- Update documentation and create runbooks so others don't hit the same problems
- Feed insights back to Product team about what users actually struggle with
- Some hands-on development when bandwidth allows
What we need:
- 1-5 years doing application support or similar technical troubleshooting
- Strong SQL skills - you should be comfortable writing complex queries
- Python for scripting and automation
- Genuine curiosity about root causes (not just mark ticket as resolved)
- Basic understanding of retail/supply chain operations
- Experience with APIs, Linux basics, standard tools (JIRA, Git, etc.)
The setup:
- Regular hours with rotational on-call. Weekend support on rotation with comp time.
