Job Overview
A Hospital Information System (HIS) Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and managing the product backlog for assigned modules within the HIS, ensuring the product meets business needs and delivers value to users. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders across various teams including product engineering, QA and Client service teams as well as Client users to translate business requirements into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria. They also play a crucial role in analyzing the product backlog and roadmap, guiding the development process from concept to launch
Key Responsibilities
- Product Vision and Strategy
- Understanding product vision, goals, and strategy for the HIS, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user need
- Requirements Gathering and Management
- Working with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements, translating them into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria
- Backlog Management
- Prioritizing and managing the product backlog, ensuring that features and enhancements are aligned with the product vision and roadmap
- Stakeholder Management
- Collaborating with various stakeholders, including clinicians, administrators, and IT teams, to gather feedback, manage expectations, and ensure alignment
- Agile Development
- Participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and other Agile ceremonies to guide development efforts and ensure timely delivery.
- Quality Assurance
- Collaborating with the QA team to ensure the delivered product meets quality standards and user expectations.
- Market Research
- Staying informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
User Experience:
- Working with UX/UI designers to ensure the HIS is user-friendly and provides a positive user experience
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensuring the HIS complies with relevant healthcare regulations and standards
- Performance Monitoring
- Tracking key product metrics to assess performance and identify areas for improvement
- Training and Support
- Working with training teams to develop and deliver training materials for users
Skills and Experience
- Healthcare Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the healthcare industry, including workflows, regulations, and technology
- Product Management Experience: Proven experience in product management, preferably with HIS or other healthcare IT system
- Agile Methodology: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve complex problems.
- Technical Proficiency: Understanding of software development principles and technologies.
- Leadership and Influence: Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
