Job Description: Product Manager, Car Loans

Business Unit: Car Loans
Location: Goregaon, Infinity IT Park
Reports To: Sanjay Kasar - Vice President, Product (Traditional, KMPL)
SkipLevel: Suraj Rajappan - Whole Time Director
Role Level: Deputy Manager / Manager

Role Purpose

The Product Manager - Car Loans will be responsible for driving KMPL's strategic growth in the Car Loans business by owning the product vision, portfolio performance, customer experience, and digital transformation agenda. This role will work closely with OEMs, Sales, Policy, Risk, Credit, BSG & IT, BIU, and Operations Teams to deliver differentiated propositions, improve process efficiency, and build a scalable and profitable product line consistent with KMPL's long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Strategy & Portfolio Ownership

  • Define and drive the end-to-end product strategy for Car Loans at KMPL.
  • Develop a robust multi-year roadmap aligned to business, digital, and customer priorities.
  • Identify growth segments, new customer value propositions, and untapped market opportunities through data analysis and market intelligence.
  • Ensure alignment with KMPL's asset growth priorities and governance frameworks.

2. Product Development & Innovation

  • Lead conceptualization and launch of new products, features, and digital experiences across the Car Loans lifecycle-sourcing, onboarding, underwriting, disbursement, and servicing.
  • Partner with the Technology and Digital teams to enable straightthrough processing, instant decisioning, and API-led integrations with OEMs, dealers, and fintech partners.
  • Drive enhancements on KMPL's internal LOS/LMS platforms to improve TAT, productivity, and compliance.

3. Business & Financial Management

  • Own the Car Loans Top-line numbers, including AUM growth, yields, cost optimization, and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Work on pricing and fee strategies based on market conditions, risk appetite, and portfolio performance.
  • Monitor KPIs and portfolio health align corrective actions to sustain profitability and asset quality.

4. Customer Experience & Journey Excellence

  • Map and continuously improve customer journeys across KMPL branches, partner networks, digital channels, and physical touchpoints.
  • Use data analytics, VOC, and NPS insights to drive experience improvements.
  • Simplify processes to reduce customer effort, improve transparency, and enhance service differentiation.

5. Sales & Channel Enablement

  • Support KMPL's field teams with product trainings, performance dashboards, incentive design inputs, and partner programs.
  • Develop OEM- and dealer-specific schemes in collaboration with Sales leadership.
  • Strengthen DSAs, digital aggregators, and OEM partnerships to scale acquisitions.

6. Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Work closely with Credit, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure product adherence to regulatory guidelines and KMPL's internal governance requirements.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio reviews strengthen risk mitigation frameworks and fraud controls.
  • Ensure audit readiness and oversight across the product lifecycle.

7. CrossFunctional Leadership

  • Serve as the single point of accountability for the Car Loans product within KMPL.
  • Present business performance, insights, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Foster strong collaboration with Technology, Design, Data Science, Analytics, Legal, Finance, and Operations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • MBA/PGDM from a reputed institute preferred.
  • Graduation in Engineering, Commerce, Economics, or related fields.

Experience

  • 3+ to 6 years in retail lending, asset finance, or product management.
  • Prior experience in Car Loans, Auto Finance, or Vehicle Lending ecosystem strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on exposure to digital lending platforms, underwriting models, and LOS/LMS systems.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of Car Loans business drivers, pricing, risk management, and dealer/OEM ecosystem.
  • Strong data orientation with proficiency in financial modelling, analytics, and KPI-driven decisions.
  • Good understanding of API frameworks, digital journeys, and fintech integrations.
