Role Overview
This role requires an understanding of Micro & Small Enterprises in Teir 2/3 geographies, knowledge of their cash flow nuances, ability to design and scale innovative credit products tailored to those segments.
The ideal candidate will bridge on-ground insights (including competitive benchmarking) with product, credit, and technology to drive growth, improve customer experience, and unlock new revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Strategy & Development
- Design customer-centric loan products based on local market needs and income patterns
- Continuously innovate on product constructs (Technology, TAT, Tenure, Ticket size, Repayment models, Hybrid income assessment, Type of Security etc.)
2. Customer & Market Understanding
- Spend significant time in the field to understand customer behavior, needs, and pain points
- Build strong insights into MSME cash flows, salaried informal segments, and local business ecosystems
- Translate ground-level insights into scalable product features and policies
3. Financial Needs Analysis
- Analyze customer financial requirements across lifecycle stages (working capital, expansion, personal needs)
- Develop frameworks for income assessment in low-documentation/alternate sources environments
- Work closely with credit teams to refine underwriting models for these segments
4. Cross-Sell & Revenue Enhancement
- Identify and drive cross-sell opportunities (PL, Mobile, Vehicle Gold, Cards etc.)
- Design bundled offerings tailored to customer segments
- Improve customer lifetime value (LTV) through product innovation
5. Process Optimization (Lead to Disbursement)
- Own end-to-end funnel: lead generation → login → approval → disbursement
- Identify bottlenecks and improve TAT, conversion rates, and customer experience
- Collaborate with sales, credit, operations, and collections teams
6. Tech & AI Enablement
- Partner with tech teams to digitize and streamline processes
- Leverage AI/ML for Lead scoring, Credit underwriting, Fraud detection, Customer segmentation
- Drive adoption of digital tools in field operations
7. Stakeholder Management
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Credit, Risk, Ops, Tech, and Analytics
- Align internal teams to deliver product outcomes
Key Requirements
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in NBFC/Banking/Fintech
- Significant exposure to LAP, MSME lending, or retail secured lending
- Experience working in Tier 2/3/4 markets preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Field Orientation: Willingness to travel extensively and engage directly with customers
- Comfort with Ambiguity: Ability to operate in evolving, unstructured environments
- Customer Insight: Deep understanding of MSME and salaried segments in semi-urban/rural markets

- Tech Awareness: Understanding of digital lending, AI/ML applications in financial services
- Execution Focus: Ability to drive outcomes across multiple stakeholders
- Local Language: Knowing any one or more of Tamil, Kannada and/or Telugu is preferred
Education
- MBA/PGDM (preferred) or equivalent experience in financial services

- Growth in LAP portfolio (disbursements & AUM)
- Improvement in lead-to-disbursement conversion rates
- Reduction in TAT across funnel stages
