As part of the Optum Rx Product & Strategy team, the Optum Rx Innovation Council Product Manager will own and drive distinct projects to innovate alongside our largest and most sophisticated clients. The individual will own the end-to-end process and be responsible for high-quality output on creating and delivering market-leading products and standing up innovative pilots. These product innovation initiatives include growth and retention opportunities and go-to-market efforts for new product launches for strategic clients. In this role, you will work with product team leaders, product directors and managers, sales & account teams, clinical, marketing, finance and other cross-functional stakeholders, with the goal of driving an improved experience for consumers and providers, and bringing value to our clients and the members we serve.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leverage market research to help define product positioning, strengths, and opportunities with every project you embark on
  • Lead product development of new custom product innovation efforts including launching and managing pilots, working across multiple teams, and managing multiple complex workstreams
  • Determine the best approach to take innovation initiatives to additional clients as well as through commercialization workplans to prepare them for scaled launches
  • Manage and drive the work, including guiding cross-functional teams to execute on tasks and deliverables and partnering with senior leadership as needed
  • Immerse in the day-to-day product development, including regular interaction with Innovation Council clients
  • Navigate and build relationships across multiple cross-functional teams in a complex, fast-paced, matrix work environment
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of product management / product development experience and/or project management experience within healthcare industry
  • Experience gathering and documenting requirements and user stories to support scoping and building complex products in the PBM industry
  • Experience leading projects and communicating effectively with cross-functional team members in order to accurately deliver project outcomes
  • Experience managing client relationships
  • Experience developing and executing go-to-market activities for product launches and innovation initiatives in collaboration with marketing and product owners
  • Project planning and management experience, including building out workplans for complex initiatives and effectively managing those plans
  • Intermediate or greater level of proficiency with MS Office applications including PowerPoint presentation skills and Microsoft Teams project planning software utilization
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity to continue moving initiatives forward without a roadmap provided
