Product Manager-Commercial Lines Underwriting

Profile / Function:

• Underwriting of Engineering Insurance products (EAR, CAR, CPM, MBD, EEIP, BPP) in line with company guidelines
• Preparation of quotations, terms and conditions, slips/forms for special referrals or facultative support for the Reinsurance team
• Ensure 100% compliance with underwriting approvals and guidelines
• Conduct training sessions related to Engineering product underwriting processes for internal teams and external stakeholders as required
• Maintain regular engagement with distribution teams and intermediaries to grow business mix
• Contribute to achieving top-line and loss ratio targets through regular stakeholder reviews
• Track business data, prepare MIS reports, and provide data for analysis as needed

Role Objective / Purpose:

• Perform risk assessment and end-to-end underwriting for Engineering line of business proposals
• Prepare quotations and support underwriters and sales teams across locations with ongoing deals
• Manage and analyze data related to Engineering products, including RFQ trackers, installments, extensions, and conversion ratios
• Coordinate with sales and underwriting teams to ensure efficient proposal and quotation handling at the Head Office
• Liaise with the Reinsurance team for special approvals and facultative arrangements
• Prepare technical and project presentations for clients, brokers, and underwriters
• Maintain updated records including insurance files, wordings, circulars, quotations, and MIS/data
• Collaborate with Operations and IT teams for digital development projects like portals, modules, and client communication
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a team

Experience:

• 36 years of relevant experience in Engineering Insurance underwriting
• Must have experience in underwriting Construction/Project Insurance (EAR/CAR) in the Indian market
• Good understanding of Engineering Insurance products: EAR, CAR, CPM, MBD, EEIP, BPP
• Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
