How will you make an impact in this role

Membership Portfolio Services, within our US Consumer Services Business, is responsible for developing and scaling several growing businesses that are strategically important to American Express. We are developing unique and differentiated ways to strengthen the Membership Model by connecting Card Members with Merchants that create opportunities to help drive our growth over the mid-to-long term.

We are seeking a Manager Product Development - Amex Ads Business Insights Product, who will manage the Global Marketing Measurement (GMM) Data Product and ODL. As a core member of a digital product team, you will be responsible for defining and evolving the BI data foundation that powers reporting, measurement, and insights across the Amex Ads ecosystem, including the creation of a Reporting and Measurement organized data layer (ODL). You will have the opportunity to conduct deep data analysis by using large datasets and use that to prioritize and define new product features and enhancements.

  • Define and drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the data platform and a new Organized Data Layer (ODL) to power merchant insights and campaign measurement across Amex Ads and Amex Offers

  • Translate business measurement needs into scalable data models, data contracts, and platform requirements within our GCP ecosystem

  • Partner closely with Technologies in an Agile environment to enhance our measurement data product including improved performance & scalability, new data pipelines, and governance standards

  • Explore generative AI and agentic capabilities (e.g., ChatGPT, Custom GPTs, semantic layers, NL-to-SQL) and recommend opportunities to implement solutions that improve our ways of working, data capabilities, and automation

  • Sustain a close partnership with AODM Business, Product, Analytics, and Operations stakeholders globally to seek and incorporate feedback to enhance our product offering

  • Influence stakeholders and partners to ensure our data model and methods are adaptable and scalable

  • Establish prioritization principles for data product enhancements, balancing new feature enablement, technical debt, performance optimization, and governance

  • Define and monitor product metrics and KPIs including data quality, performance SLAs, and reliability

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of product management experience in data products & analytics experience, along with merchant business and data experience

  • Proven experience working directly with data engineering teams in Agile environments to deliver scalable, self-service data products

  • Experience partnering with BI teams and understanding downstream visualization needs direct BI tool experience is a plus but not required

  • Direct experience in multi-channel advertising campaign measurement

  • Experience leveraging Generative AI, LLMs (e.g., ChatGPT, Custom GPTs, or agentic workflows) to enhance documentation, data discovery, analytics, or reporting workflows

  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles, dimensional modeling, semantic layers, and scalable data architecture

  • Deep working knowledge of Cornerstone/Lumi or similar Big Data environment is needed

  • Strong fluency in SQL/BigQuery and data pipeline concepts with the ability to engage deeply with engineers on schema design, data transformations, aggregations, and performance optimization

  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and cross-band stakeholders

  • Experience defining and governing centralized data layers (e.g., semantic layer, ODL, canonical data model) to standardize metrics and reporting logic is a plus
