WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US
As a Product Engineer with 10 years of experience, you sit at the intersection of product thinking and engineering execution. You own the full arc of a feature — from understanding the problem, to building a working prototype, shipping and delivering its outcome. You bring both the business knowledge of what to build and the technical depth to ensure it is built well, with a personal stake in quality at every stage
What You Will Be Responsible For
Product & Value Delivery
- Translate business goals and user needs into product opportunities with clear value hypotheses.
- Prototype solutions early and often — directly, to validate ideas before committing to full build
- Define scope collaboratively with stakeholders, keeping scope anchored to user value rather than feature count.
- Track and communicate the impact of what ships; deliver outcome, not just the output.
Engineering Quality
- Write and review technical requirements and acceptance criteria that leave no ambiguity at implementation time.
- Assess feasibility early and frame build-vs-integrate trade-offs in terms of delivery impact, risk, and value — enabling informed decisions across product and engineering.
- Be the last line of defense on quality: review and test deliverables against requirements, run validation, and hold the bar.
- Identify and highlight technical debt and systemic risks before they become delivery blockers.
- Keep system documentation live and accurate — treated as a product asset, not an afterthought.
AI-Enabled Development
- Use AI tools (Copilot, Claude, and others) fluently as part of your everyday working routines.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated artifacts — verify correctness and architectural fit before accepting.
- Guide your team on responsible AI usage: when to trust it, when to override it, and how to review it carefully
- Identify where AI can accelerate prototyping cycles and reduce low-value work in the team.
Team & Agile Practices
- Maintain a healthy, prioritized product backlog — each item sized, scoped, and ready for the team.
- Work closely with software engineers during implementation — unblock, review, and course-correct in real time
- Be the connective tissue between stakeholders and the delivery team: clear in both directions.
What We Are Looking For
An experienced Product Engineer doesn't wait for a spec to be handed to them — they shape it. They prototype before they present, validate before build, and measure after ship. They push back on scope that doesn't serve users, and they focus on quality that does. They make the team faster by removing ambiguity, not by adding process.
Skills & Experience
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in development and testing disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to move from problem statement to working prototype quickly.
- Experience writing precise technical requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Hands-on quality assurance: test design, validation, and defect triage.
- Experience working directly with clients or external counterparties.
- Solid grounding in financial instruments — Repos, Derivatives, or related collateral/securities product
- Comfortable running demos, gathering requirements from business users, and translating business workflows into system behaviour.
- Ability to frame engineering decisions in terms of user and business value.
- Comfort working in ambiguity and structuring problems before solving them.
- Strong stakeholder communication — able to translate freely between technical and non-technical audiences.
- Regular use of AI coding assistants (Copilot, Claude, or equivalent) in a professional context.
- Demonstrated critical evaluation of AI-generated outputs — not just accepting but interrogating them.
- Understanding of AI limitations relevant to software delivery: hallucination, context loss, security blind spots.
- Agile practitioner: fluent in Scrum ceremonies, backlog management, and iterative delivery.
- Strong documentation habits; treats the knowledge base as part of the product.
- Collaborative by default, decisive when needed.
