Your Job
You will own pre‑NPI product development activities that turn early ideas into validated, manufacturable concepts. Using rapid Siemens NX concept CAD, targeted DFM/DFMEA, and quick prototype cycles, you'll enable faster decisions on architecture, cost, manufacturability, quality and compliance, then hand off a production‑ready data pack to NPI.
Our Team
You'll join the PSBU, CCS concept engineering team — a cross‑functional group that partners closely with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Test, Procurement and Program teams to de‑risk products early and accelerate time‑to‑market for new mechanical and electromechanical systems.
What You Will Do
- Rapidly convert ambiguous requirements into feasible concept options using Siemens NX CAD and clear interface definitions to enable early stakeholder alignment.
- Lead cross‑functional feasibility reviews (Design, Mfg, Quality, Test, Sourcing, Compliance) and present concise go/no‑go recommendations backed by data.
- Drive early manufacturability and reliability thinking through DFM/DFA reviews and owner‑driven DFMEA actions to reduce downstream risk.
- Plan and execute fast prototype builds (in‑house or supplier) and iterate based on test learnings to converge on a viable concept.
- Create succinct concept deliverables (assumptions, tolerance strategy, material/process choices, risk register, concept BOM) that enable a clean NPI handoff.
- Partner with Test/Compliance to define early validation scope (UL/IEC or equivalent where applicable) and incorporate compliance considerations into design choices.
- Maintain CAD/BOM/change history in PLM (Teamcenter preferred) and ensure disciplined release/workflow for concept artifacts.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely allied discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on mechanical/product development experience, with exposure to concept/pre‑NPI or rapid‑iteration environments.
- Proficient in Siemens NX for rapid 3D concept modeling, assemblies and interface definition.
- Working knowledge of DFM/DFA and practical experience creating/driving DFMEA with documented actions and owners.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent) for CAD/BOM management and workflows.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Hands‑on experience coordinating rapid prototype builds and vendor selection for low‑volume runs.
- Practical understanding of drawings/GD&T, tolerance stack‑up and manufacturing process capability.
- Experience with compliance testing planning (UL/IEC or equivalent) and working with Test/Compliance teams.
- Exposure to simulation tools (FEA, tolerance analysis) and using results to influence concept decisions.
- Experience with should‑cost inputs, supplier capability assessment, and prototype sourcing.
- Advantageous: hands‑on testing experience with higher currents/voltages or electromechanical systems.
