Position: Product Development Engineer Laser Marking Systems

Role:

We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to design, develop, and improve laser marking machines while also supporting field teams with critical troubleshooting, customer sample trials, and component sourcing. This hybrid role combines R&D engineering, field support, and cross functional collaboration to ensure high performance, reliable marking solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical assemblies, enclosures, opto-mechanical systems, and motion components for laser marking machines.
  • Collaborate with the design team to Develop 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and comprehensive BOMs.
  • Define product specifications, performance criteria, and technical requirements.
  • Conduct engineering analyses, including tolerance analysis, thermal considerations, and structural stability.
  • Integrate laser sources, galvo heads, lenses, scanners, and beam delivery systems.
  • Perform optical alignment, calibration, and beam quality evaluations.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and optical engineers to ensure system performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Build prototype units and evaluate overall performance, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Conduct marking trials on customer samples using the most suitable machine based on material and their application.
  • Analyse marking quality and optimize laser parameters and process settings.
  • Create test reports, validation documents, and product improvement plans.
  • Ensure designs adhere to DFM (Design for Manufacturing) /DFA (Design for Assembly) principles for smooth manufacturing.
  • Provide support and product assembly training to the assembly team.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for opto-mechanical components, motion systems, electronics, and fabricated parts.
  • Identify and source components such as lasers, optics, PCBs, motion systems, and mechanical parts.
  • Work with the purchase team to evaluate vendors, obtain quotations, and ensure timely material availability.
  • Offer technical insights to support cost optimization and supplier selection.
  • Visit customer sites to resolve critical machine performance issues when required.
  • Conduct marking trials, application testing, and material specific evaluations at in house or customer location.
  • Assist service engineers in troubleshooting critical issues via telephonic guidance, remote desktop support, video calls, or remote diagnostics.
  • Document recurring issues and feed insights back into product design for continuous improvement.
  • Validate communication and interface compatibility between galvo controllers, PLCs, computers and embedded boards.
  • Ensure product compliance with laser safety standards Class IIV, CE, ISO, and internal quality norms.
  • Conduct product training to sales engineers & new joiners.
  • Conduct service level training to field service engineers.
  • Prepare user manuals, technical documentation, installation guides, and safety guidelines.
  • Design product brochures, expo posters, and technical marketing materials in coordination with the marketing team.
