Job Summary
We are looking for a
highly skilled Backend Product Development Engineer III to lead the design and development of
scalable, secure, and highly efficient backend systems built on a Microservices architecture. In this senior individual contributor role, you will own backend architecture, build production-grade services, mentor junior engineers, and ensure operational excellence across our platforms.
What You Have To Do
- Architect and design end-to-end, large-scale backend systems using a Microservices architecture that are scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable.
- Lead backend product development efforts by translating business requirements into robust technical solutions with a strong focus on SaaS, multi-tenant, and Microservices-based architecture.
- Design, develop, and maintain independent, loosely coupled microservices using Java/J2EE, REST APIs, and MongoDB, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Own API design, service contracts, data modeling, schema evolution, and backward compatibility across microservices.
- Design systems for horizontal scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability, including inter-service communication, retries, timeouts, and failure recovery.
- Ensure backend systems align with DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Take ownership of production microservices, including on-call responsibilities, driving Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implementing permanent fixes to reduce operational issues.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as Product, Frontend, Platform, and Cloud teams to ensure successful delivery of backend solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers (PDE I / PDE II) through code reviews, design discussions, and technical mentorship, helping them grow their backend and microservices expertise.
What You've Done
- 8+ years of hands-on software development experience with a strong focus on backend engineering.
- Strong expertise in Java/J2EE and building backend services using REST and JSON.
- Proven experience designing and implementing Microservices-based, distributed systems in production environments.
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) with hands-on experience deploying and operating microservices in the cloud.
- Experience building and operating SaaS, multi-tenant applications.
- Proven experience mentoring engineers and influencing system-wide architectural decisions.
- Strong operational experience with post-launch troubleshooting, system monitoring, and on-call responsibilities.
