Product Consultant - Wire & Cable

Our client, a management consulting company is seeking an experienced Wire & Cable Industry Expert to provide front-end, product, design, and commercial expertise. The consultant will play a key role in optimizing cable designs and BOMs, driving value engineering and supporting new product/variant development and portfolio rationalization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on cable and product design, including BOM development, optimization, and value engineering.

• Support new product and variant development based on market and customer requirements.

• Assess product economics and identify opportunities for cost optimization and design improvement.

• Drive portfolio rationalization by evaluating product performance, profitability, and market relevance.

• Optimize sales processes including quoting, product-mix decisions, and commercial workflows.

• Provide technical and commercial inputs at key product development and sales milestones.

• Support go-to-market strategies for segments such as HV cables, power cables, and data centres.

• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, sales, and commercial teams to align product and business objectives.

Skills Required

Key Skills:

• 15+ years of experience in the wire & cable industry
• Strong experience in product design, engineering, R&D and technical/commercial functions
• Hands-on expertise in cable design, BOM development and product economics
• Experience in BOM optimisation, value engineering and cost reduction
• Proven track record in new product/variant development and portfolio rationalisation
• Understanding of sales process optimisation, quoting and product-mix strategy
• Experience across segments such as HV cables, power cables and data-centre cables
• Ability to provide commercial and technical inputs at key product development and sales milestones
• Engineering/technical educational background with strong commercial acumen
