Job Description
Role: Product Builder (Intern)
- Gurgaon, with US hours overlap (3pm to 12am IST normally)
- Full-time, Reports to the Head of Product
At Spyne, product builders don't wait for a spec. They sit with the people using our product, find what's slowing a car dealership down, and ship the fix. As an intern you'll build real AI features with our product team from week one, and you'll talk to customers while you do it. Communication matters here as much as code.
About Spyne
Spyne builds AI for US car dealerships. Our products run inside 1,500+ US dealerships today. Studio AI turns a dealer's vehicle photos into listing-ready merchandising. Vini AI answers dealer phone calls, texts and chats, books service appointments and follows up on sales leads.
A dealership loses money every day a car sits on the lot unsold, and a lot of its work still runs on phone calls, spreadsheets and old software. We build the AI that removes that drag. We're founded by operators from Amazon, Cox and OYO, and backed by Accel, Vertex Ventures and Storm Ventures.
The role
This is an on-site 6 months internship in Gurugram, which could convert into a full time role on completion of objectives and performance. You'll take real dealer problems from idea to production. Some weeks that's a new feature in Studio AI or Vini AI. Other weeks it's an internal tool that saves our team hours, or a fix a customer asked for on yesterday's call. You'll work across the stack, use AI coding tools every day, deploy your own work and improve it based on how dealers actually use it. You'll report into the Product team.
What you'll do
- Build and ship web apps, AI agents and internal tools that dealers and our own teams use.
- Work across interfaces, APIs, databases, integrations and deployment.
- Join customer calls with US dealers, hear the problem first-hand and turn it into something simple that works.
- Write tests and own the quality of what you put in production.
- Watch how people use what you shipped and change it based on evidence.
You might be a fit if you
- Have built something real on your own: a side project, a freelance gig, a hackathon build, a startup that didn't work out. Something you can talk about with pride.
- Are proficient in at least one modern programming language and understand APIs, databases, Git and software fundamentals.
- Build with AI coding tools, review their output yourself and have opinions about them.
- Can explain a technical thing clearly to someone who isn't technical, including a dealership manager in Texas.
- Learn fast and are comfortable when the problem is vague and nobody hands you a spec.
- Can work on-site in Gurugram.
We don't care about your GPA, your college or how many DSA problems you've solved. We care about what you've built, how you think and how you communicate.
How to apply: send us a short video (2 to 3 min)
Record yourself talking to camera and walk us through:
- Who you are.
- One thing you've built: what it does, why you built it, the hardest part and what you'd do differently.
- Why this role.
Upload the video to Loom, YouTube (unlisted) or Google Drive with viewing on for anyone with the link. Please don't attach the file.
How we hire
5 rounds, each testing 1 part of the job. Rounds 1 to 3 run as a chain: the problem you uncover in round 1 is the one you design in round 2 and build in round 3.
- Round 1: Business and customer deep dive. We play a dealer with a real, messy problem. You ask the questions, find what's actually costing them money and play it back in their words. We're testing how quickly you get to the real problem and whether the customer would trust you.
- Round 2: Product thinking. You turn that problem into a product flow: who does what, where the agent steps in, what's a one-off config and what becomes a feature for every dealer. You write it as a 1-page spec and defend what you cut.
- Round 3: Build with agentic AI. You take your flow and ship a working change using the AI coding tools you'd use on the job, such as Claude Code or Cursor. We care about how you direct the agents, review their output and test what you ship, as much as the result.
- Round 4: Culture fit with the hiring manager. We talk through your story: what you built, what didn't work and what you'd do differently. We're looking for high agency and ownership.
- Round 5: HR and closure. Compensation, joining date and any open questions.
