JOB DESCRIPTION
The role is responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activities within a manufacturing environment, ensuring timely sourcing of materials and services aligned with technical specifications, cost targets, and delivery requirements. The position requires strong collaboration with engineering, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support production efficiency and supply chain performance.
Responsibilities
- Understand and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and material requirements
- Collaborate with engineering teams to align on product specifications and standards
- Manage purchase requisitions (MRP-driven) and source materials/services accordingly
- Request, evaluate, and negotiate supplier quotations (RFQs)
- Apply competitive bidding to optimize cost, quality, and delivery
- Create and manage purchase orders (POs) and ensure proper communication to suppliers
- Track order acknowledgements, delivery schedules, and supplier performance
- Handle PO amendments, delivery changes, and logistics coordination
- Act as liaison between suppliers and internal teams for invoice, payment, and receipt issues
- Monitor supplier performance (OTD, quality, responsiveness) and escalate risks
- Support supplier development, evaluation, and relationship management
- Use MRP/DRP reports to manage supply planning and shortages
- Supervise daily procurement activities including RFQs, expediting, and follow-ups
- Identify and resolve non-conformances and supply chain issues
Skills
- Strong knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical, costing, and negotiation skills
- Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred)
- Proficiency in MS Office tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- High attention to detail and process-oriented mindset
- Leadership capability and ability to manage supplier relationships
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering ( Mandatory).
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or manufacturing
- Experience in oil & gas manufacturing and new part development (preferred)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and costing
- Familiarity with industry standards and supplier management practices
