Who is hiring

This is a mid-sized distributor of industrial supplies with customers across three states. Buying has grown with the business but has never had one owner. Flexiple is a managed marketplace that helps companies hire experienced professionals, and we are helping the distributor find that owner.

What the buying desk looks like today

Roughly 1,800 active SKUs come from about 140 suppliers, most of them domestic manufacturers and a handful of importers. Purchase orders are raised by branch managers and the warehouse team, prices are renegotiated when someone remembers to, and stock-outs on fast movers are a weekly conversation. You would take that over and make it predictable.

What you would own

• Supplier terms, rate contracts and annual price reviews for the top 40 suppliers by spend
• Replenishment planning with the warehouse leads, so reorder levels reflect real demand
• Import and domestic freight decisions, including landed-cost comparisons
• A short, visible list of preferred suppliers per product family
• Supplier payment priorities agreed with the finance team
• A monthly spend and savings note for the owners

Who we would like to meet

Someone with 6 to 10 years in purchasing, ideally in distribution, trading or light manufacturing, who has negotiated directly with suppliers and managed at least two buyers or executives. You are comfortable in an ERP, quick with a spreadsheet, and you can hold a firm line on price without souring a relationship that the sales team depends on.

What working here is like

Expect a flat structure and direct access to the promoter family. You will sit next to the warehouse, which means feedback on your decisions arrives the same day. There is real room to build a small team and choose the systems you want.
