We are working for a large MNC institution for center of excellence-procurement manager for its captive KPO out of Mumbai.
Role Description
This is an on-site, full-time role for a Procurement Manager based in Mumbai. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for building the center of excellence of procurement capabilities and processes to attain performance and establish standards . The function will play a key role in supporting the development of the associated COE mandate that meets business outcomes.
The candidate will locally oversee and manage diverse COE capabilities as these are being deployed over time . Those include operational procurement and vendor risk management related activity. The job holder and the team will operate from the clients offshore center based at Mumbai. The job holder will work closely with global procurement SMEs as well as local and global stake holders.
Job also involves priority in deploying future focused procurement , functional initiatives and relevant COE capabilities. It will be centered around supplier risk management and to meet regulatory requirements ,TPRM deployment and development, Supplier risk assessment oversight supported with close collaboration with global and regional category managers .
The job holder will also act as local procurement head for Indian operations, actively engaging and representing procurement with key stake holders in their requirements and initiatives . The job holder will also see to that the relevant sourcing initiatives are adequately managed and supported .
The function will report into the Global head procurement excellence but will closely collaborate with relevant peers to align and validate the baseline for launching the procurement COE.
Key responsibilities will include:
-Support definition of CoE mandate and direction for the CoE in support of performance improvement and standard setting: CoE mission, objectives, capabilities/expertise, outcomes/outputs, roadmap, metrics
-Implement and further develop Third Party Risk Capability:
-Implement Procurement Risk Assessments (due diligence execution) based on main risk domains such as financial health, ESG compliance, concentration/resilience and other aspects to ensure alignment with organisational risk appetite
-Stakeholder Governance: Act as the primary interface between Global Procurement and internal risk functions (e.g. TPRM, Legal, Compliance, Cyber), ensuring together with Global Category Management team that suppliers meet the Bank's risk standards
-Crisis Management: Support the procurement response to potential disruptions (e.g. financial insolvency, cyber breaches) and contribute to risk councils to make data-driven go/no-go decisions on high-risk vendor
-Implement further global and shored Procurement Capabilities along CoE mandate
Responsibility as Procurement Head India:
o Develop and execute location-specific procurement strategies aimed at actively organizing and managing the sourcing process of addressable spend for all stakeholders, albeit with involvement of other global functions
o Define and effectively manage local procurement practices, aligning resources and operations to maximize return on capital employed
o Deliver cost-effective solutions for operational needs and leading initiatives focused on assisting stakeholders in reducing TCO for various products, and services procured by the business in the region
Stakeholder & People Management
o Act as Procurement business partner with COE and its parent organisation
o Oversee direct management of local team
o Attract and develop talent to build the CoE organization
ROLE
• Define procurement CoE team's mission, objectives, capabilities, outcomes, projects and metrics
• Hire and lead captive Procurement team members covering various procurement and vendor management functions, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Define a local procurement operating model and SOPs that enable and align with the overall global procurement strategy, business needs and company objectives
• Ensure close alignment with global Procurement heads and leads overseas
• Manage internal stakeholders and act as sparring partner for local departments to challenge demand & specifications
• Ensure that locally, procurement and vendor management activities are conducted in compliance with company policies and procedures
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Vendor Management, or similar relevant field
• 10+ years relevant (indirect) procurement or vendor management experience
• 7+ years proven leadership experience in an international environment
• Recognised industry professional qualification (CIPS, CPA, CIMA or additional education/experience)
• People selection, management and leadership experience fora mixed-purpose operational procurement or vendor management or similar team (6-12 FTE)
• Expertise in developing, documenting, and implementing procurement and vendor management operating procedures and standards in a highly structured way
• Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to inform procurement decisions
• Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to think strategically and to align CoE capabilitieswith Procurement's global objectives + priorities
• Experience in a matrix-based global management setting
• Experience of interfacing with and influencing business stakeholders and suppliers
• Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to integrity standards, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating people fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel and relevant S2P(SAP Ariba), TPRM (ServiceNow, etc.), VM tools
Preferred
• Experience in the financial services industry
• Knowledge in data protection and regulatory matters in financial services
