Role Purpose
The DGM – Wafer & Ingot Equipment Procurement is responsible for end‑to‑end strategic sourcing and procurement of high‑value capital equipment for solar wafer and ingot manufacturing. The role ensures timely availability of globally sourced equipment at optimal cost, aligned with project timelines, technology roadmap, and long‑term manufacturing objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Capital Procurement
- Lead procurement strategy for wafering and ingot manufacturing equipment including furnaces, wire saws, automation, inspection, utilities, and allied systems
- Align procurement plans with greenfield / expansion project schedules and capacity ramp‑up plans
- Develop long‑term sourcing strategies for critical and single‑source equipment
Global Vendor Management
- Identify, qualify, and manage global OEMs and technology partners (China / Europe / APAC)
- Lead commercial negotiations including pricing, delivery terms, warranties, spares, and service agreements
- Own supplier performance management, risk mitigation, and escalation handling
Commercial & Contract Excellence
- Lead RFQ/RFP processes, techno‑commercial evaluations, and final supplier selection
- Structure contracts covering FAT/SAT, milestones, LD clauses, guarantees, and payment terms
- Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and statutory norms
Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Work closely with Projects, Technology, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Legal, and EHS teams
- Support equipment configuration finalization, scope freezing, and change control
- Enable smooth coordination during installation, commissioning, and handover phases
Cost Optimization & Risk Management
- Drive Capex optimization without compromising technology or quality
- Identify supply risks related to geopolitics, logistics, import duties, and vendor dependency
- Build alternate sourcing and localization strategies where feasible
Governance & Reporting
- Establish procurement governance, review cadence, and risk registers
- Present procurement status, cost outlook, and risk mitigation plans to senior leadership
- Ensure documentation readiness for audits, PLI compliance, and statutory reviews
Team Leadership
- Build and lead a high‑performing capital procurement team
- Mentor team members on global sourcing, negotiations, and contract management
- Establish procurement best practices and knowledge systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Materials / Industrial)
- MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain / Operations / Finance preferred
Experience
- 15–20+ years of experience in capital equipment procurement
- 8–10+ years in senior procurement leadership roles
- Strong exposure to solar wafer/ingot, semiconductor, or high‑tech manufacturing equipment procurement
- Proven experience managing large Capex budgets and global suppliers.
