Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, QRA, and What-If studies, ensuring robust process safety standards in Plants.
  • Implement and oversee Management of Change (MOC) procedures to ensure changes are safely managed and documented.
  • Lead incident investigations related to process safety; identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Audit, develop, and review Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) for compliance with OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure mechanical integrity of critical process equipment through regular assessments.
  • Facilitate and deliver process safety training to plant personnel, promoting awareness and best practices across all levels.
  • Design new or modify existing process systems, equipment, and control schemes for greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Develop and evaluate Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mass and energy balances ensuring safety, environment, and performance objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Production, Mechanical, E&I, Project, Safety) to achieve seamless project execution.
  • Drive and report on sustainability initiatives: energy optimization, water/CO reduction, and continuous efficiency improvements.
  • Define, track, and report on process safety KPIs: leading/lagging indicators, MOC compliance, audit results, training metrics.
  • Proactively identify and implement process safety improvement opportunities in design, engineering, and operations.
  • Advise on change management initiatives impacting process safety and integrate PSM best practices in all process developments.

Preferred candidate profile

B.Tech/B.E. in Chemical Engineering, with an additional qualification in Process Safety Management (PSM) preferred. This is a diversity-focused role and can be based at any of our plant locations: Wada (Maharashtra), Vizag (Telangana), Thiruvallur (Chennai), Harohalli (Bangalore), Oragadam (Chennai), or Jagadia (Gujarat).

  • At least 10 years in chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer, or hazardous process industries.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in both Process Safety Management and Process Engineering for complex plant operations.
  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of risk assessment methodologies such as HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, QRA, What-If studies.
  • Deep understanding of OSHA process safety standards, relevant environmental laws, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong skills in process design, engineering calculations, and process optimization.
  • Proven leadership abilities for motivating and managing cross-functional teams; experience in stakeholder management.
