Role Overview

You will own process design across CRA's product lines: flares, thermal oxidisers, H2S scrubbers, biogas cleaning and upgrading, and gas compression systems. You will take designs from sizing through to commissioning, and lead and develop the process engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate the design basis, heat and mass balance, PFD and P&IDs for each project
  
• Size equipment, lines and relief devices, and prepare process datasheets for equipment and instruments
  
• Carry out combustion, flare sizing and thermal radiation calculations
  
• Write control philosophies and cause and effect matrices, working with the E&I team
  
• Represent CRA in client HAZOP, SIL and design reviews, and close out actions
  
• Support the applications team on sizing, performance guarantees and technical clarifications
  
• Check mechanical and E&I deliverables against the process design before release
  
• Support FAT, commissioning and performance tests, and troubleshoot on site
  
• Develop calculation templates and standard P&IDs for repeat products.
  
  

• B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering; Mechanical engineers with a strong combustion background will be considered
  
• 10+ years in process design with an equipment manufacturer, package vendor or EPC, including P&IDs and heat and mass balances you originated
  
• Design experience in at least one of: flares, thermal oxidisers or incinerators, burners, biogas treatment and upgrading, gas compression and conditioning
  
• Working knowledge of API 521, API 537 and ISA 5.1, and of burner management requirements (NFPA 86, EN 746-2 or equivalent)
  
• HAZOP experience as the design owner
  
• Strong hand calculations; HYSYS or similar simulation an advantage
  
• Willing to travel for FAT and site work.
  

This role requires hands-on design origination. Experience limited to relief valve sizing, simulation support or plant operations will not be sufficient.
