Provides technology input and guidance to multiple projects and proposals. Responsible for implementing the technology design basis for all aspects of the BEP. Leads technology and work process improvement efforts. Involved in the overall process engineering efforts through the basic engineering, detailed engineering, commissioning, and start-up phases. Takes initiative in making decisions within established procedures and guidelines. Supervises work of other engineers and responsible for coaching and training engineers. Evaluates competing and/or new technologies and maintains technology competitiveness.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to process technology team including plant start-up and performance tests
  • Responsible for the maintenance of technology competitiveness, supervision of technology improvement programs, evaluation of competing and/or new technologies.
  • Supervises/performs technology development and leads work process improvement efforts in coordination with R&D team
  • Responsible for leading major project team or task force on several projects
  • Reviews and approves critical project design documents
  • Supervises team members and mentors in areas of expertise
  • Performs review functions and answers questions from client and engineering contractor after completion of basic engineering
  • Makes technical presentations to clients
  • Presents at conferences and trade shows, customer meetings and internal presentations
  • Fosters Innovation
    • Creates new or existing technology improvements (i.e., patent)
    • Creates new or improved work processes for better execution efficiency
    • Publishes or presents a technical paper at an industry forum
  • Performs other assignments as required
Basic Qualifications

  • BS in chemical engineering degree with at least 10 years of experience in FCC design and/or operations
  • Solid knowledge of Chemical Engineering disciplines including fluidization
  • Ability to make technical decisions for technologies in areas of responsibility
  • Ability to advance new ideas for technology and work process improvements
  • Ability to supervise and schedule the work effort of a project team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact successfully with internal and external clients in all areas of expertise
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective technical presentations
  • Field experience and troubleshooting required
  • Knowledge of specialized equipment required for technology
  • Strong working knowledge of industry specifications and standards including LQMS
