Job Description

Summary:

We are seeking a Process & Quality Governance Lead to standardize, deploy, and continuously improve engineering processes for our Controls and Software teams. In this role, you will define and operationalize process frameworks, metrics, and audits that align with organizational standards&mdashensuring consistent execution and world-class product quality for our customers. You&rsquoll partner closely with Engineering and Corporate Quality to institutionalize best practices, lead data-driven improvements, and drive measurable outcomes at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy software processes for Control and Software teams as per organizational standards to ensure world-class product quality for customers.
  • Define, deploy, and monitor process/product metrics and other objective measures to ensure adherence to established processes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead data-driven analysis to drive continuous process improvement, enhance process/tool adherence, and optimize engineering workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering and Corporate Quality to define, refine, and implement new or updated processes across the organization.
  • Provide regular reporting on software quality assurance performance, including process adherence, risks, and improvement actions, to Management.
  • Conduct gap analyses and/or spot checks to identify impediments and ensure strong institutionalization of defined processes across engineering teams.
  • Support engineering teams during internal and external audits, drive actions resulting from audit findings, and ensure appropriate deployment of corrective measures.
  • Lead process-based root cause analysis for software defects and failures, driving corrective and preventive actions to ensure sustained improvements.
  • Maintain objectivity in issue assessment and coach engineering teams in troubleshooting using industry-leading software development principles and practices.
  • Facilitate learning and development through individual and team coaching to strengthen process understanding and adoption.
  • Coach engineering teams on leading controls and software development practices, fostering consistent adoption of best-in-class engineering methods.
  • Communicate core development principles, team practices, and operating models across the organization to ensure clarity and consistent execution.
  • Support engineering teams in reviewing project-specific process and tool usage, tailoring processes where appropriate to meet business needs while maintaining compliance.
  • Lead in-house process improvement initiatives to successfully achieve defined project goals and organizational quality objectives.
  • Drive in-house process improvement tool development projects, assess risks, and coordinate activities across cross-functional teams to ensure timely deployment and adherence to project schedules.

Requirements:

  • 15 years of experience across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including 8 years specializing in Software Process Engineering.
  • Experience in using and working in multiple software development methodologies (Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, etc.).
  • Proven background leading or contributing to software projects of varying size and complexity, ideally in embedded software environments and across geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong experience operating within a large, matrixed organization&rsquos Software Quality Management System (SQMS).
  • Educational background in a Software Engineering or related engineering discipline.

Required Skills:

  • Must be from a software process background. Core skill is process definition (building process from scratch) - should have built a process matrix around quality.
  • Strong in RCA (root cause analysis).
  • Experience in ISO, MCCi, or ASPICE (automotive spice) frameworks - need to have at least one.
  • Hands-on expertise applying industry-leading software development and testing process practices to drive organizational change and process excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, design, and implement new software processes that align with organizational standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Solid track record of leading root cause analysis (RCA) using industry-standard methods and acting as a change agent to drive and institutionalize process improvements across teams.
  • Extensive experience in developing and deploying phased metrics (process, product, and quality metrics) for software development and testing teams, using models such as the V Model, Agile, and Waterfall.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis to identify risks, gaps, and process impediments, with strong proficiency in tools such as Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, automation preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with CMMI, ISO (software standards), or ASPICE frameworks, including involvement in helping organizations achieve higher process maturity levels and supporting audits/assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical, effective software process solutions to engineering teams, leveraging deep process knowledge and industry best practices.
  • Experience contributing to in-house tool development using technologies such as PowerApps, Power BI, Python, or equivalent tools to support process automation and reporting.
  • Proven experience conducting internal or external process maturity audits, performing gap analyses, and driving the deployment of process improvements across the organization.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and enable engineering teams effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and professionally.
  • Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with functional safety, model-based development, or embedded/controls software.
  • Toolchain familiarity (e.g., ALM/PLM, requirements management, modeling tools like MagicDraw, test management, defect tracking).
  • Certifications: ISO Lead auditors, CSM/PSM, Lean/Six Sigma, CQE, Auditor (internal/external), or DevOps related.
  • MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
