Scope of the Role

The Production Manager will be responsible for end-to-end production operations, ensuring efficient planning, execution, quality control, and cost optimization across the printing and packaging value chain.

This role involves overseeing shop floor operations, managing cross-functional teams, driving operational efficiencies, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.

Objectives of the Role

• Ensure seamless execution of production plans with adherence to timelines and quality benchmarks
• Drive operational efficiency and optimize throughput across production processes
• Strengthen quality control systems and minimize production errors
• Manage costs effectively through budgeting, vendor optimization, and process improvements

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

Develop and implement production schedules, optimize workflows, and ensure smooth coordination across departments to meet delivery timelines.

Shop Floor Operations Management

Oversee end-to-end operations including pre-press, printing, finishing, and dispatch while ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.

Quality Assurance & Process Control

Establish and monitor quality standards, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure consistent output quality.

Costing, Budgeting & MIS

Manage production costs, prepare budgets, and track performance through MIS and reporting dashboards.

Vendor Development & Outsourcing

Identify, evaluate, and manage external vendors for outsourced jobs while ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality compliance.

Technology & Process Optimization

Leverage ERP systems and MIS tools for production tracking and continuous process improvements.

Team Leadership & Manpower Planning

Lead, train, and manage production teams, ensuring optimal manpower utilization and high team performance.

Technical Expertise Required

• Sheet-fed offset printing (4/5/6/8 color presses)
• Web offset printing (heatset/coldset)
• Pre-press workflows including CTP and color management
• Finishing processes: lamination (BOPP/thermal), UV coating, die-cutting, embossing/debossing, foiling
• Folding & gluing for carton packaging
• ERP-based production planning and MIS systems

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma/Degree in Printing Technology / Graphic Arts / Engineering (Bachelor's preferred)
• Minimum 15+ years of experience in printing and packaging production
• Strong hands-on experience in shop floor management and team leadership
