Job Title: PCB and Hardware Design Engineer
Location: Bangalore | Full-Time | Experience: 6-10 Years
About Rekise Marine
Rekise Marine is building autonomous ships and submarines that operate in the world's most hostile environments. We're executing India's flagship autonomous submarine project the Jalkapi XLAUV, on order from the Indian Navy. This is an unmanned submarine weighing over 20 tons that can travel 5,000+ kilometers autonomously and operate in the ocean for 30+ days at a time.
We're creating some of the largest autonomous robots in the world, machines with direct impact on the global economy and national security. While autonomous cars in India may still be a dream, autonomous ships and submarines are already a reality, and it is possible to build for the world from India.
The Role
We're seeking a PCB Layout & Hardware Design Engineer to develop the electronic systems of our autonomous submarines. You'll design complex multi-layer PCBs for submarine control systems, high-speed communication interfaces, precision sensor circuits, and robust power systems that operate reliably at 300m depth. This role requires mastery of high-speed digital design, analog interfaces, and power electronics while ensuring compliance with defense and marine safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
PCB Layout & High-Speed Digital: Design 6-10+ layer PCBs with high-speed interfaces (PCI Express, MIPI, 10GHz Ethernet). Perform impedance control, differential routing, length matching. Conduct SI/PI analysis and optimization.
Analog & Sensor Interfaces: Design precision analog paths for LVDT, pressure, and acoustic sensors. Implement low-noise techniques, filtering, shielding, and proper grounding. Select ADCs and signal conditioning components for underwater applications.
Power Electronics: Develop DC-DC converters using GaN/SiC devices for submarine power distribution. Design isolated topologies for battery-powered 30+ day missions. Perform thermal analysis and component derating.
Protection & Compliance: Implement comprehensive protection (OVP, OCP, surge, ESD). Ensure MIL-STD-461, CE, UL, IEC marine standards compliance. Design isolation barriers for pressure hull penetrations.
System Integration: Interface with mechanical team on form factors and thermal solutions. Support prototype bring-up, debugging, and environmental validation. Collaborate on INS, sonar, and communication system integration.
Manufacturing Support: Prepare schematics, Gerbers, 3D models, assembly documentation. Optimize for DFM/DFA with fabrication partners. Maintain configuration management for defense requirements.
