Job Description


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Administration:
  • Develop and implement the school's vision, mission, and goals with a focus on inclusive and accessible education.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to special education (e.g., IDEA, ADA).

  • Supervise daily school operations, including curriculum implementation, scheduling, and resource allocation.

  • Lead and evaluate teaching and support staff to maintain high professional standards and instructional quality.

Student-Centered Focus:
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

  • Ensure appropriate academic, behavioral, therapeutic, and vocational programs are in place.

  • Foster a culture of care, respect, and high expectations for all students, regardless of ability level.

Staff Management & Professional Development:
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate special education teachers, therapists, aides, and administrative staff.

  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities tailored to special education practices and interventions.

  • Encourage a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

Parent & Community Engagement:
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress, school programs, and support services.

  • Build strong relationships with families and advocate for the needs and rights of students with disabilities.

  • Collaborate with external agencies, specialists, and community organizations.

Budget & Resource Management:
  • Develop and manage the school budget, ensuring efficient use of funds to support student services and staff needs.

  • Pursue grants and other funding opportunities related to special education.

  • Ensure the school is equipped with adaptive technologies and materials.

Health, Safety & Compliance:
  • Promote and enforce health, safety, and accessibility standards.

  • Coordinate crisis response plans and behavioral intervention strategies.

  • Maintain accurate records for student progress, attendance, discipline, and compliance.
