WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS JOB:

As a Principal Solution Architect, you will define and lead the enterprise-wide architecture for content platforms and digital delivery systems across American Airlines. This role spans CMS authoring platforms, and modern content delivery strategies.

You will spearhead the transformation toward a composable, scalable, headless and SEO-optimized digital ecosystem, ensuring seamless content flow from authoring (OpenText CMS) to API layer (GraphQL Federation) to global content delivery (CDN/edge platforms)—while defining the roadmap for the next-generation CMS beyond OpenText.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Define and own enterprise-wide content architecture strategy, including:

• Authoring (OpenText CMS / TeamSite)
• API layer (GraphQL + Apollo Federation)
• Delivery layer (CDN, Edge, Web Platforms)

Architect and govern OpenText CMS ecosystem, including:

• Content models, templates, workflows, and governance
• Multi-channel content reuse and delivery

Define and lead CMS modernization roadmap, including:

• Strategy to evolve beyond OpenText into headless / composable CMS platforms
• Evaluation of future CMS technologies and vendor solutions
• Migration patterns (incremental, parallel run, or full replacement)

Lead content delivery and performance architecture:

• CDN / Edge caching strategies
• SSR/CSR/hybrid rendering strategies
• High availability, scalability, and latency optimization

Own SEO architecture and strategy across platforms:

• Technical SEO (metadata, structured data, indexing strategies)
• CMS-driven SEO controls and governance
• Page performance optimization aligned with Core Web Vitals

Define integration patterns across CMS, APIs, and frontend:

• Headless CMS / hybrid models
• Micro frontend and composable architecture
• Establish architecture standards and governance across teams
• Act as technical authority for enterprise-wide design decisions
• Collaborate with product, SEO, content, and engineering teams
• Drive resiliency, observability, and security best practices
• Mentor engineers and architects and influence cross-org technical direction

ALL YOU WILL NEED FOR SUCCESS:

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale content and digital platforms

Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience:

• Experience defining and executing CMS modernization strategies
• Deep expertise in OpenText TeamSite or similar enterprise CMS platforms
• Strong experience in GraphQL Federation / Apollo Gateway architectures
• Experience designing SEO-optimized large-scale web platforms
• Experience working across multiple teams as an enterprise architect

Technical Skills:

• CMS: OpenText TeamSite, OpenDeploy, LiveSite
• Content Architecture: Content modeling, workflows, governance, multi-channel delivery
• API: GraphQL (Netflix DGS), Apollo Federation
• Backend: Java, Spring Boot, Node.js (working knowledge)
• Frontend: TypeScript, Angular / modern frameworks
• Platform: Kubernetes, CDN, Edge delivery
• DevOps: GitHub CI/CD pipelines

Strong expertise in:

• Distributed systems & API design
• CMS and headless architecture patterns
• Technical SEO, performance optimization, and web vitals
• Security and compliance in content platforms
