Job Description

About us:

Sira Alternatives is an AI-native alternatives firm establishing a SEBI Category II AIF — target corpus ₹1,250 crore, with a substantial anchor commitment from the founding team — to provide bespoke, high-conviction credit to India's high-growth mid-market, where traditional financing falls short. We back businesses with strong promoters, clear exit paths and a need for patient, structured capital. Sector agnostic, with a preference for healthcare & pharma, the data centre value chain, education, sustainability and industrials. Our DNA is in large, complex transactions where management has to actively create equity value — through operational improvement, strategic consolidation, or a well-executed transition to public markets.

The roles: Two seats on the founding investment team:

•     Principal (8–12 years): full deal ownership — origination through structuring, IC approval and portfolio outcome. A P&L-facing seat with direct exposure to the Investment Committee and our LPs.

•     Senior Associate (4–7 years): ownership of underwriting and diligence, with growing responsibility for structuring, IC documentation and borrower engagement. Clear path to Principal as the fund scales.

Both require relevant experience in private credit, special situations, NBFC/structured finance, or a credit- or transaction-focused role at an investment bank or advisory firm, and a CA / CFA / MBA from a reputed institute. Competitive compensation.

What you'll do:

Common to both roles

•     Underwriting: build and own the financial model — cash flow projections, sensitivities and stress cases, security cover, repayment analysis — and form a view on the credit.

•     Diligence: run the process end to end, commissioning and working with legal, tax, technical and financial consultants and translating findings into structural protections.

•     Structuring: shape instruments (NCDs, OCDs, mezzanine, structured equity), covenant packages, security and inter-creditor arrangements.

•     IC and documentation: draft IC notes and term sheets; support negotiation of definitive agreements, with risks and mitigants clearly articulated.

•     Portfolio: track covenant compliance, financial performance and operating milestones post-disbursement, flagging early warning signals.

•     Team: guide Analysts on modelling and diligence workstreams and review their output before it reaches the Investment Committee.

Principal, additionally

•     Origination: own relationships with promoters, bankers, intermediaries and advisors, and convert sector theses into a live, actionable pipeline.

•     Negotiation: lead structuring and negotiation directly with promoters and their advisors.

•     Accountability: author and defend the IC recommendation — a clear, reasoned view on pricing, downside and exit.

•     Workouts: lead refinancing, restructuring, enforcement and exit across the portfolio.

•     Firm building: mentor the team, build underwriting processes and playbooks, and support LP engagement, fundraising materials and investor reporting.

Senior Associate, additionally

•     Support origination — build sector theses, screen opportunities, maintain the pipeline and join promoter and intermediary conversations alongside the senior team.

Who we're looking for:

•     Judgment beyond the audited financials — promoter quality, cash conversion and stress points — and comfort with the disclosure quality typical of promoter-driven mid-market companies.

•     The ability to carry transactions with limited supervision and hold timelines across several live deals at once.

•     Clear written credit notes and confident verbal presentation to the IC; high EQ with borrowers and consultants.

•     Command of SEBI AIF regulations, RBI IRAC norms, IBC/NCLT processes and transaction documentation — expected of the Principal, an advantage for the Senior Associate.

•     Appetite for a founding-team environment: comfortable with ambiguity, hands-on across the deal lifecycle, and motivated by building a franchise.

We will also look for a meaningful quantum of closed transactions you can speak to personally — deals owned, structures negotiated, outcomes achieved, including exits and recoveries — alongside an established mid-market network that translates into proprietary origination and the independence to decline a transaction.
