The Seven Islands Maritime Training Foundation (SIMTF) is the educational initiative of Seven Islands Shipping Ltd., a reputed Indian liquid bulk carrier with a proud legacy in the maritime sector. SIMTF's flagship institute, the Seven Islands Maritime Training Institute (SIMTI), is a Directorate General of Shipping (DGS)-approved pre-sea training institute based in Khopoli, Maharashtra. Our programs include Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS), General Purpose (GP) Rating, Graduate Marine Engineering (GME), and Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) training. Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and visionary Principal, who is either a Master Mariner (FG) or Chief Engineer (MEO Class I) with strong academic, training, and administrative leadership experience.

The ideal candidate should bring extensive exposure to maritime education, proven management capabilities, and the ability to lead SIMTI toward sustained excellence in maritime training, regulatory compliance, and cadet development.

The Principal will serve as the academic and administrative head of the institute, responsible for managing compliance with DGS and IMO standards, improving academic delivery, maintaining discipline, and fostering a high-performance training culture among cadets and faculty.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic & Administrative Leadership

• Provide strategic direction and overall management of the institute's academic, administrative, and operational functions.
• Ensure compliance with DGS, STCW, and IMO regulations across all training programs.
• Oversee curriculum planning, academic delivery, training quality, and performance outcomes.

Faculty Leadership & Development:

• Lead faculty recruitment, training, evaluation, and performance enhancement.
• Promote a culture of teaching excellence, continuous improvement, and maritime professionalism.

Cadet Development:

• Oversee cadet training, discipline, welfare, and professional grooming.
• Implement structured learning, mentorship, and leadership development programs.

Regulatory & Quality Assurance:

• Liaise with DG Shipping, external auditors, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
• Lead DGS audits, accreditation processes, statutory inspections, and ensure full documentation compliance.
• Drive quality initiatives aligned with QMS frameworks.

Institutional Growth & Stakeholder Management:

• Build strong relationships with the maritime industry, shipping companies, alumni, and training partners.
• Develop initiatives for academic excellence, research, innovation, and campus development.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Master Mariner (FG) or Chief Engineer (MEO Class I).
• Higher academic qualifications (Extra Master, Extra Chief, M.Sc., M.Tech, WMU degrees) are preferred.
• Age Group: 50 - 58 years (flexible for outstanding candidates).
• Minimum 7 - 10 years of teaching/training experience at a DGS-approved maritime training institute or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of DG Shipping regulations, STCW conventions, QMS systems, and maritime audit requirements.
• Demonstrated leadership, decision-making ability, discipline, and interpersonal effectiveness.
• Prior experience leading pre-sea cadet training programs is highly desirable.
