The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal - Project Director to join our Building Services team in Singapore. In this senior role, you will lead the successful delivery of major and complex building services projects, working with multidisciplinary teams and diverse clients across healthcare, commercial and mixed-use developments. You will be part of a connected network of more than 400 Building Services specialists across Asia Pacific, with opportunities to shape project outcomes, strengthen client relationships and contribute to Beca's continued growth in Singapore.

About You

We are looking for someone who loves to learn and share knowledge to develop our people - you will provide strategic leadership for the delivery of major and complex multidisciplinary projects and programmes. You will be responsible for driving outstanding project outcomes, strengthening client relationships, ensuring commercial success, and developing high-performing teams. This role requires a proven leader capable of managing significant project risk, influencing senior stakeholders, and delivering excellence across the full project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading multidisciplinary teams in the successful delivery of major and complex projects, ensuring alignment with Beca's project management frameworks, quality standards, commercial objectives and client expectations.
  • Maintaining and developing exemplary project delivery standards, systems and procedures, implementing initiatives required to raise Beca's capability in our industry.
  • Leading projects from concept through to completion, overseeing cost estimates, tender inputs, technical documentation, project schedules, resourcing, budgets and delivery targets.
  • Strengthening project management and professional capability across the team through coaching, development and succession planning, helping to build a ready and resilient resource pool.
  • Building and managing strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, stakeholders and joint venture partners throughout the project lifecycle, using sound commercial judgement, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Reviewing, approving and signing project deliverables, ensuring technical quality, compliance and project governance requirements are met.
  • Providing hands-on leadership and support where projects require recovery, helping teams stabilise delivery, manage risks and restore confidence with clients and stakeholders.
  • Overseeing, and in some cases, leading major and complex multidisciplinary bids.
  • Motivating and working collaboratively with project teams to encourage innovative thinking, develop new ideas and approaches.
  • Identifying and implementing profit maximisation and cost management strategies.
  • Applying strong risk thinking, contract management and commercial discipline across projects, ensuring avoidable risks are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.
  • Understanding risk on all jobs through implementation of sound audit, business and financial management and understanding impact of work practices on the financial outcome of projects.
  • Understanding each client's business, priorities and strategic issues to support successful outcomes, strengthen long-term relationships and maximise opportunities for repeat business.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Project Management
  • At least 15 years experience in an engineering consultancy environment, including demonstrated success leading major multidisciplinary projects, programmes and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Proven experience managing projects involving significant commercial risk, complex delivery interfaces, phased implementation and demanding programme constraints.
  • Strong knowledge of project governance, programme management, contract administration, risk management, financial management and project controls.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with experience managing project profitability, contractual matters, claims, variations and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, with the ability to engage confidently with clients, senior stakeholders, project teams and delivery partners.
  • Strong leadership presence, sound judgement and the ability to make effective decisions in complex and fast-paced environments.
  • Able to work effectively with colleagues, clients, consultants and project partners at various levels, building trust and alignment across multidisciplinary teams.
  • A collaborative, client-focused and delivery-driven working style, with a commitment to quality outcomes and strong team leadership.
