Responsibilities
- Lead process engineering activities across project stages including options assessment, basis of design, detailed design, procurement support, commissioning, and optimization to ensure project success
- Define and integrate treatment strategies such as BNR, MBR, MBBR, tertiary/advanced treatment, disinfection, and sludge/energy solutions (AD, CHP, biosolids) to meet project requirements
- Develop and review process deliverables including mass balances, hydraulics, PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, process datasheets, and equipment specifications to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
- Perform and validate process modelling and simulations using tools like BioWin, GPS-X, and WEST to analyze scenarios and meet effluent targets and resilience goals
- Lead design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID sessions, value engineering, and constructability assessments to ensure alignment with codes, permits, and client standards
- Provide process engineering input to multidisciplinary teams (layout, civil, mechanical, ICA/SCADA, electrical, architectural) to deliver safe, operable, and maintainable designs
- Oversee pilot trials, start-up, and performance testing troubleshoot operational issues and optimize energy, chemical use, carbon footprint, and lifecycle costs
- Champion digital delivery methods including BIM/CDE, promote data-driven decision-making, and standardize templates and QA/QC processes to enhance project efficiency
- Engage clients and stakeholders by presenting technical findings, managing risks, changes, and interfaces to protect project scope, schedule, and budget
- Mentor and develop process engineers, support resource planning, and contribute to proposals, estimates, and technical narratives to strengthen team capabilities
Required competencies and certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- At least15 years of process design and delivery experience in wastewater treatment plants with leadership on multi-disciplinary projects
- Deep knowledge of biological and advanced treatment processes, sludge treatment, odor/air treatment, and water quality/effluent compliance
- Proficiency in process modelling tools and data analytics, and competence in developing PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications
- Strong experience in HAZOP/HAZID, commissioning, and performance testing
- Excellent client communication, teamwork, and mentoring skills
- Familiarity with BIM-enabled delivery and project controls
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering (preferred)
