Grow with us!
Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions is building its first India‑based modem engineering team in Bangalore, leading end‑to‑end modem baseband, platform, and firmware architecture for next‑generation enterprise and industrial IoT solutions. This founding team works closely with global Ericsson engineering organizations and Qualcomm partners on advanced SDX‑based platforms.
As a Principal Modem Firmware Architect, you will own the complete modem firmware architecture for SDX‑based LGA modem modules, drive Qualcomm AMSS/MPSS integration strategy, and provide technical leadership across modem software, hardware interfaces, and platform components. This is a ground‑up opportunity to define architecture, influence long‑term technology direction, and deliver carrier‑grade, high‑performance 5G platforms deployed at a global scale.
What you will do:
In this role, you will operate at the system‑architecture level, bridging modem firmware, baseband platforms, RF subsystems, and product requirements. You will define software architecture, guide implementation across teams, and serve as the primary technical interface to Qualcomm and key hardware partners.
The role requires deep modem expertise, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to influence design decisions across cross‑functional and geographically distributed teams.
The skills you bring:
- Own and define the end‑to‑end modem firmware architecture for SDX‑based LGA modem modules
- Lead Qualcomm AMSS/MPSS integration, customization, and long‑term upgrade strategy
- Define architectural guidelines for baseband platform, RF, power management, and system interfaces
- Drive cross‑team technical alignment across firmware, hardware, RF, and platform teams
- Serve as the primary technical contact with Qualcomm and modem hardware partners
- Review and guide complex design decisions, trade‑offs, and performance optimizations
- Debug and resolve critical system‑level issues across HW/FW/SW boundaries
- Influence modem roadmap decisions, technology choices, and future platform evolution
Required Skills
- 10+ years of modem firmware / baseband platform experience, including architectural ownership
- Strong hands‑on experience with Qualcomm SDX / MSM modem platforms
- Deep understanding of modem subsystem architecture (ARM cores, DSP, hardware accelerators)
- Expert knowledge of Qualcomm AMSS/MPSS software stack and integration models
- Strong C/C++ expertise for large‑scale, real‑time embedded systems
- Proven experience with system‑level debugging using JTAG, trace tools, and lab instrumentation
- Ability to lead technical discussions, reviews, and cross‑team design alignment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience across multiple modem generations and carrier deployments
- Background in RF, power optimization, and performance‑critical modem features
- Experience driving technical relationships with chipset and hardware vendors
- Proven mentorship or technical leadership experience
- Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
